Here in Northern California we tend to say that we"called in" as in called in sick.To be "called off" means to be called and told not to come to work because of low census or whatever. Calling out?? I don't think I've heard of that except when offering to fight...heehee.. "I called her out" means you better put up your dukes cuz it's on and crackin'!
I have noticed some Nurses talk about "CALLING OUT" ( sick, ie..) and some say "CALLING IN" so interesting!!!!! is this like calling( for example) a Pepsi a "SODA" or a "POP" I live in the heart of the Midwest and we say "CallING-IN'
I mean..... you are calling-IN to your work place right? I know its trivial..........but I was just wondering....? :)
Have always "called in" to work to let them know I would not be coming in to work today.
