Hello all, I just wanted know how you try to stay sexy while in nursing school, going to clinical, or even working as a nurse. I see so many of us and we look kind of bland. How do you maintain feeling like a woman if your nails can't be done, with pretty polish, or you can't wear make up. So tell me what do you do to keep your sexy.
The best way to stay sexy is to take good care of yourself.
The most attractive girl in my class very rarely wears any makeup and never wears deodorant. She rolls out of bed, brushes her teeth, puts her hair up and comes to school looking like a million dollars. Drives some of our classmates who spend a lot of time putting on makeup nuts.
She also does yoga 6-7 times a week and eats an extremely healthy diet of mostly whole foods. She showers after yoga, but that's about it.
Of course genetics (and being 22) play a role in her just having startling natural beauty but her diet and exercise habits are really what keep her looking great. With the amount of alcohol she drinks and the chocolate she eats, she better have good habits!
Honestly, I didn't wear makeup more than once to clinical this semester. By the time I'd get to bed it would be midnight and I had to be up at 5 am to get ready and be there on time. I always showered, had my hair up in a "messy" bun but completely up and off of my face -- but I'm making a plan for next semester and learning how to get a natural make up look done in less than 10 minutes.
I don't wear perfume, but I do use body lotion. I don't use anything with a strong scent - just a "clean" scent... almost laundry-esque lol.
I'd like to know why nursing schools suggest that make up isn't professional for nurses. I've heard that muttered in my class. I think as long as your make up isn't to the point that people would point and make fun of it (like a hooker) in any circumstance then you're fine. Yeah, sure, I get the whole fingernail thing. Think of the other professionals out there that are women. I'm pretty sure accountants, lawyers, engineers (which can get dirty), architects, teachers (which can be active), pharmacists, physicians, veterinarians, etc never hear "your clients will think you're more professional if you don't wear make up because they only want a smiling face."
I love this thread! I'm a certified makeup artist and I couldn't imagine leaving the house without any eyeliner or mascara. I don't want to be banned from wearing makeup when I start clinicals. Fresh, natural looking makeup is all I'm aiming for, I'm not going to do my crazy eye makeup. I don't want to be a boring, plain jane nurse. I want to be the confident, fit, make-up wearing woman that I am in every aspect of my life.

LOLOLOLOLOL!!!:yeah:
I really don't feel feminine lately, I was just thinking this the other day. But I will live... Right now my main concern is getting through nursing school while still raising two boys and being there for my husband... While there are girls in my class that are obsessed with feeling sexy... they come to class all dolled up every day! but then again they dont have to take care of their kids all the time either... But I'm sure it will be different when I graduate and have extra money to go get my hair done and get a manicure every once and a while..
Oh this is such an interesting thread! Lots of greats ideas here. I would add that you can always blow out your hair nicely, smooth it out, and pull it back. Also, EYEBROWS! Brows really frame the face. Get them professionally threaded or waxed, and consider getting micro bladed or filling them in regularly. Also, eyelash extensions. Expensive but you really don't need to wear any other makeup! I use Becca undereye brightening cream which is amazing and means no undereye concealer necessary. Also, yes, oral hygiene!! Keep your teeth clean, flossed, and white. Go to the dentist regularly. As for nails, most acrylics look tacky I find but I agree it's hard to give up that shellac polish in a neutral colour. I guess just get cute pedicures and a no polish manicure. Definitely do NOT wear perfume at work. Some people are extremely sensitive and it just smells weird and out of place in that setting. That being said, I did watch a girl on YouTube mentioning that she wears a peppermint perfume which might just smell fresh and ok.

This is so true, lol. Scrubs are made x8 sizes too big and are not made for petite folks. I have a few that fit nicely but I have one size "small" that look like clown pants (another person could probably fit in there with me).
Having scrubs that fit right and having neat hair, feeling clean and brushing my teeth makes me feel good. Also feeling confident about what I'm doing really makes me feel sexy.
