How do you pass time on your "weeknight?"

Published

Or weekday depending on your shift.

I'm curious what others around me (especially other nurses) are up to during their downtime. Can you guys share with me wha kinds of things you do?

I sat down for two minutes on the couch last night before falling asleep, that's how my down time usually goes.

I'm in school so that eats up a lot of my time when I'm not at work. I also spend time with my family. Right now I don't have time for much else. If I did, I'd be going to the gym, library, and volunteering locally.

Sleeping, hanging with the boyfriend and family. It's been hard to have time/energy for it lately, but I usually read, run, and play am instrument a few times a week as well.

Specializes in Palliative, Onc, Med-Surg, Home Hospice.

I get together with some friends every other week to play euchre and every other week I attend a pagan meet up. I also go shooting with my husband and veg. I will binge watch on Netflix. Sleep. If I work 3 in a row, I pretty much sleep and veg the first day off.

I also crochet (have a nephew and a great niece due soon). Pretty much do whatever I feel up to.

1. Online schooling (4th semester of a distance-based MSN program)

2. Allnurses.com (I am hooked)

3. Hulu Plus, Amazon Instant Video

4. Old reruns of Cold Case Files

5. Running outdoors when the weather is tolerable

6. Exercising at the gym when the weather is unbearable

7. Cooking (favorites are salmon croquets and sardine fritters)

8. Meeting up with my best friend for lunch or dinner

9. Mindless internet browsing

I sleep a lot. Watch movies etc while knitting, spinning, crocheting, painting etc. Read. I start my BSN program this fall so after that all off time will be studying. I'd like to be exercising but my will isn't strong enough at the moment.

Specializes in geriatrics.

1) Yoga and gym (helps my back pain)

2) Read and go to the library

3) Read for graduate studies

4) Sleep

5) Travel

6) Cook and prep meals for 3 days

7) Watch my DVD collection over and over (it's mostly background noise and I don't have cable. Waste of money).

I like to cook, especially soups and stuff that freezes well, and bake. I love having friends over for dinner fairly often. The dog demands to be walked a couple of times a day and if it's not too hot we walk a long way. And I have church lessons to prepare for. I tend to listen to music rather than watch tv.

I work 12 hour shifts so all I usually do is come home, maybe eat something and then feed the pets. Then I'll probably watch whatever I DVR'd the day before for a couple of hours. Right now that would be the Olympics. Then off to bed to get up early and do it all over again. Pretty boring actually.

I love to knit and crochet too. I need to go to Yarn Addicts Anonymous.:sorry:

Checking out the possibilities for a second job in a relaxed manner. At least that is what I tell myself I am doing when really I'm just spending a lot of time on the internet.
