Or weekday depending on your shift.
I'm curious what others around me (especially other nurses) are up to during their downtime. Can you guys share with me wha kinds of things you do?
Yep...I became a cord-cutter last year, too. I had DIRECTV satellite television on and off since 2004, but realized I was wasting money between the poor picture quality and the fact that I only liked about 7 of the channels.I didn't have cable for a long time because of the cost, but $29.99/month is pretty reasonable.
So, I canceled DIRECTV. I bought a digital antenna for $20, hooked it up to my television, and amazingly pulled in 68 channels that I watch for free. I also supplement with subscriptions to Hulu Plus ($12/month) and Amazon Prime ($8.25/month), which are far cheaper than the $65/month I paid for satellite service.
Recently I've been hitting up midtown a lot. I live in the suburbs. I've been exploring different restaurants (I'm a foodie), art exhibits, and bars with my friend. Exploring the gayborgood/aka Montrose LGBT friendly parts of Houston and just meeting a lot of new people. I also spend a lot of time sleeping and chilling by the pool of the hot tub.
I'm just gonna throw out a bunch of words without further explanation: rest Netflix Facebook interesting documentaries cleaning laundry dishes friends family vacation (or vacation planning) shopping walking hiking swimming wine tasting cooking ... That about sums it up. I don't have kids and barely find any free time though lol
I sleep a lot. Watch movies etc while knitting, spinning, crocheting, painting etc. Read. I start my BSN program this fall so after that all off time will be studying. I'd like to be exercising but my will isn't strong enough at the moment.
OT but when did you pick up spinning? Was if before or after knitting and crochet? I'm interested in learning to spin but a little worried because it seems like a high cost to start out.
Freaking grad school, whole d*** two weeks till new semester. Got to start reading into it now.
Couple of work-related educational projects I involved myself into
Teen at home, with all that it implies
Very busy husband at home (read: no help)
Now we have to trim our waists a little (thanks to having too many lobsters while on vacation), so baking got to get limited but not my other foodie-related activities, including bi-weekly class and club meetings and trips. I will hopefully have more time for Oxford club lectures on European medieval art I brought from England last year. And maybe some little beading as well. And I have to start some physical activity... I have to... I have to...
I honestly forgot when I watched TV last time save for when being stuck in a room for an IV or something.

I've started playing video games again recently, and I'm really enjoying the heck out of that.
An extra benefit of having a PS4 is there is Playstation TV service now - it's called Playstation Vue, the base plan is $29.99/month, and I get 55 TV channels with it, so now I finally watch TV again, too. I didn't have cable for a long time because of the cost, but $29.99/month is pretty reasonable.
I spend time with my SO whenever possible... but most of the time he leaves home before I get home in the morning, and at least half of the time he doesn't get home until after I leave from work, so I mostly just see him on weekends.
I also spend a lot of time on the internet, and on Monday, I start school back full time. Ugh, just kill me now.
