How much is your pay?

I'm just curious...

Salaries varies from state to state, as well as the years of experience, and the area of specialty, right? How much is your pay per month? :heartbeat :nurse: :heartbeat

:yeah:

It all depends on your state. Some states have a much higher cost of living. We have had nurses whose husbands had to relocate out here. The corn fields of the midwest and they took a huge hourly pay cut. But their bank accounts have never been bigger.

it even comes down to areas within a state. here in va, the area around dc is horribly expensive, and rn salaries are also high. i live in central va, where a great home in a nice neighborhood is $175k, and make a lot less--but it evens out.

i took a big cut when we moved here from fl, but our standard of living is much higher than it ever was in the "sunshine and hurricane" state!:D

$29.06/hr - new grad on nights.

New grads make $18.50/hr. in St. Louis, MO area. You can get a 3-bedroom, 2-bath home in a good school district for approx. 200-250k, depending on the part of town. This base salary is appalling, in my opinion. I can't believe some of the salaries on here. So much higher than what I will be looking at after graduation.

With working one day of OT every week I make before taxes about 6000 per 2 week pay period. This is the "low wage state" of Texas, Houston area.

RN? LVN?

LVN consultant $20

Specializes in CNA, Surgical, Pediatrics, SDS, ER.

Just got a pay increase so now $20.10/hr here in good ol' SD been a nurse for close to 2 yrs. Started out @ $18.33/hr.

I work ER but no pay increase for specialty areas here. Cost of living is probably less than big cities so I suppose it evens out. I would love to make some of the hourly wages given here though.

Good schools, good community, housing is on the high side nice home at least 175-250K. Can't afford that until my student loans are pd down.

I am not an RN yet, but as far as I can see, wage is somewhat porportioal to cost of living for the area. Not only that, but weather or not there is a "shortage" of RNs. For instance, I have heard through various resources that (new grad) RNs in San Deigo can expect to make 20-30 per hour, in L.A. 40-50 per hour, and San Francisco round 70 per hour. I'm not sure why such a huge difference in pay, but I suspect it's due to cost of living and housing. I wouldn't count those figures as facts, but I wouldn't doubt the wages are around those figures. The point is that wages can be very different for various cities ALL WITH IN THE SAME STATE. PLUS, I believe that a lot of RNs come to california becuase of the ratios, so perhaps that is why some wages are lower in some cities. I live in the desert, and I believe new grad RNs make around 20-30 here. Apartments around here (decent ones anyway) can start around 1000 per month, and homes in cities where you don't have to have bars on your windows would start around 300,000 to 400,000 (not factoring in the housing market in it's present state). For some people money is very very improtant, but personally, I would want to live somewhere that makes me happy, and has the opportunites that will allow me to adance my career when I graduate. Wage is improtant, but takes a backseat as far as I am concerned. Anyway... for what it's worth. :twocents:

You take home 12,000 in a month?

There's no way... I live and work and Houston and I have a hard time believing/understanding this. If this is the case then tell me when you work at. :stone
