How is the Math on the NCLEX-RN exam?

Nursing Students NCLEX

Just wondering whether the math questions on the NCLEX are straight forward, or are they disguised in a bunch of words and extra numbers meant to throw you off. I am taking the NCLEX this Friday and yes I have been practicing math, but it isn't my strong point! Never has been. & I don't want to be that person who fails the NCLEX based on that. Otherwise, I graduated in May of this year and I have been taking the Kaplan class for the last three weeks. I do about a hundred questions a day and my trainer scores are in the mid to upper sixties. I did ATI while in school. & I totally take this seriously. I have a job waiting that is based on whether I pass this test. & I'm just worried. Does anyone else have this issue? Your :twocents: are welcome! Thanks!

I took the NCLEX-PN and my "math" were pretty straight forward dosing calculations. I don't recall them being tricky, they were pretty straight forward.

Best of luck, you got through nursing school, you can get through the NCLEX :)

Do not stress out about the maths, you not even get any. Usually they are straightforward calculations and will usually tell you what they want. i.e dose to give, what is available etc

Well that's great news! I guess I need to relax! Thanks guys!

My exam didn't have any math at all, so don't worry about it as long as you know the basics. Good luck.

I never had a math question. I passed with 75 questions. People say math questions are low level questions. I imagine they are medication calculation questions if you get them

You guys were lucky then (no math, that's awesome!) I will let you guys know how it goes on Friday, I'm so ready to get this thing over with!

I didn't get math either...just passed last Friday with 75 questions.

good luck!!!!=)

I had 2 questions and to me they were hard (LOL).I hated math. They were not simple ,had to convert wt,peds, dosage everything. Just know your steps u never know what u may get. Good luck ! !

Wow congrats starfish! I can't wait to be in your shoes. I am feeling a little burned out with all this studying, so I can't wait till Friday!

& to Passion for people (love the name btw) I will be continuing to practice a little bit of everything... I just read that one person got a rule of nines/burns math question, how random is that? SO I will definitely be doing some of those too!

:clown: Thanks. I like yours too. You have good scores, try not to worry/stress. Pray (alot). You will make it !

I didn't get any drug calc from nclex rn...took it this morning. When I took nclex-pn, there was a lot of drug calculations. But not today. There's a whole bunch of prioritization questions, delegations, and SATA. I had a couple of med questions - not necessarily math problem. Good luck to you.... You will be fine.
