I got my schedule and I work 5 nights in a row, then 5 nights off, and it repeats. Kind of discouraged about the working 5 nights in a row, wondering if Im going to burn out? (8 hour shifts).

if you are a newer employee, they will work you where they need you. they will bounce you unit to unit as well. i've been at the faciity i've been at for 6 years, left and stayed prn for 2 years, and was treated the same when i came back full time. it's only fair.
I'd think that's a pretty sweet schedule because of the length of your time off in between. I've done 9 12s straight and was exhausted after, but you get in a routine about the 4th shift and it doesn't matter anymore. The nice thing with 8 hour shifts is there is more recovery time. Give it a go, make sure you rest and get enough sleep each day and you should be time.
I find with nights I would rather work all of them in a row than have one on, one off, etc. Just get in your night schedule and power through, and enjoy your longer chunk of time off! I have worked up to 6 in a row (and certainly didn't get 5 off after that!) and while I get tired towards the end I don't really mind it.
I always work five 8-hour shifts in a week to meet my full time 40 hours/week FTE requirement. Are you only working part time that you find this odd?
i think he's not ask if working 40 hours is doable but is it doable to do 5 days of shifts in a row and 5 days of rest or should he space out his shifts
I drive about 28 miles, it works out to be about 45-55 minutes each way, less if its no-traffic Sunday :)
I work 3 12 hour shifts, usually 2 in a row and a day or two off, then a single day. Once a month I have 3 in a row scheduled and it is ROUGH. I just got off my 3 in a row yesterday and I'm still tired.

Well, considering that those of us who work 8 hour shifts in my department typically do so in a 5 on 2 off 5 on 2 off lather rinse repeat scenario, it's completely and 100% doable.

This is my schedule as well and I love it. I bet it is nice to work 5 on/5 off although I think I'd get bored with that after a while.

We do 12 hours shifts of 2 days then 2 nights, 4 or 5 off, and repeat. I like the variety of days and nights but the rotating shift work sometimes does me in.
Maybe I missed the answer to this but are you worried about the social aspect of working 5 nights in a row? Honestly, it can be a bit isolating at times. And if you have kids etc. it can be challenging to balance. However, lots of people manage to make this work and end up loving it.
in terms of work, night shifts are generally my favourite. You have more time to critically think about what is going on with your patients as there are generally fewer orders and fewer people around. And I also kind of like the craziness of nights. You really have to work together as a team because when **** hits the fan, there's fewer people around to help. Bonus points for the differential pay!
