I got my schedule and I work 5 nights in a row, then 5 nights off, and it repeats. Kind of discouraged about the working 5 nights in a row, wondering if Im going to burn out? (8 hour shifts).
When you work 8 hour shifts you typically work five days a week. I work 3 days on 4 days off or 4 days on 3 days off depending on my employer's needs and my current academic schedule. Plus I am the on-call IV nurse who comes in for all the hard sticks day or night. I rarely refuse as I get paid for four hours even if attempt is not successful.

When I worked LTC, I worked 5 8s in a row with only 2 days off between. I hated it. I now work 12's and normally work 2 or 3 days in a row. (I am PRN so I don't have to work 3 shifts per week). I've done 4 12's and by the 4th day I was exhausted and cranky. I will NEVER work 5 12s in a row.
I work in ltc and was hired for second shift. Unfortunately they needed me more on third for the first month or so I was there. Because they were so understaffed o ended up working 11 nights in a row, followed by three days off, and back to my four days on/three days off schedule.(for this facility, 30hrs of work time is considered FT, because of the lunch breaks you have to take) It won't kill you, but it will eventually make it to where you can't sleep at night at all. They eventually swapped me back to second shift and I still have trouble sleeping at night. But with me eating better and taking melatonin if Im not feeling sleepy enough when I need to sleep, it's possible to get back go a real schedule. 5 8's is normal and I'm just getting the short end of the stick because I'm new so I don't get more than 4. And the full time requirements here are weird, most places 35 is considered full.
The most I have ever worked in a row is nine 12-hour shifts between two jobs. I am set up to do another run of seven in a row during spring break week this year. I don't usually do that to myself, but hey, if I have a break from school, that's the time to get my shifts at my PRN in and work some overtime with the fewest consequences to my education. I will work Friday, Saturday, and Sunday at my main job, Monday at my PRN, Tuesday and Wednesday at my main job, and Thursday at my PRN, so at least I don't work more than three shifts in a row at any one job. I am hoping to pick up some overtime at my main job during that week, too, so we'll see how many days it really ends up translating to.

Depends.
I work anywhere from 2 to 7 days a week.
It also depends on shift type. 12 hr vs 8 hr vs 16hr. I'm getting a little burned out on doubles, though.
I'll do three 8's during the week if I work two 12s on the weekend.
I don't think I could ever work mon-fri 7-3/6-2/9 - 5 unless it's nightshift...or Im offered a lot of money. Notice I didn't say 'never'. I *can* be bought, you know!
