How do you get job offers before graduating NS?

Published

There are people that talk about getting job offers before they even graduate or take the nclex. What do you have to do for this to happen? Thank you for replies.

Just start applying! A lot of hospitals have new grad postings that are specifically for people who are about to or have just graduated nursing school. Keeping your offer is contingent on graduating and passing the NCLEX.

I believe that these offers are most likely to be made to students who have had rotations in that facility, especially if they have also been employed as a PCT in that organization prior to graduation.

We don't around here b/c we can't work as graduate nurses in my state. Most places won't look at you until you pass NCLEX

Can't work as a graduate nurse in my state either. I still had a job offer 2 months before I graduated as did the vast majority of my graduating class. The offer is contingent upon passing NCLEX.

Like it's been said, start applying. The worst they can say is "no." I already have a contingent offer, and I'm a year out. Mine is because I know someone. Lol

I agree, just start applying! Most people I know who graduated into this market had jobs lined up through GN programs, preceptorships, or hospital jobs they held throughout school.

my instructors told me if you do well in pre grad clinicals then they usually offer you a job after you graduate.

Start applying. You can get hired "pending passing the nclex". That's what my hospital does. I had my offer in writing in March, passed boards in July, started working in August.

yep - my offer letter said "pending my temporary practice permit"...I secured my offer in February and start June 17

My first one is from the facility that I work in now as a CCA, my second one came from a nurse I used to work with who is now a manager at another facility. I don't graduate until Nov 2014 though, won't have my licence until January 2015.

What is a cca?
