I picked 41-60 miles. That is an easy drive in rural Texas.

I selected this option: "As far as it takes."

If I have to endure a lengthy commute to prevent from becoming homeless, then so be it. I experienced some poverty in childhood and early adolescence, and I am determined to live in relative comfort during my adult years since I now have control of the situation. Back when I was a child, I had no control over how my parents misappropriated the finances. Now it is in my hands.

I would commute across state lines if I had to. Beggars cannot be choosers, especially in the midst of a horrid recession.

It really depends on the job. I just got a new job in OB and it is a 45 min job (last OB job I was laid off from was 3 mins) and I am totally willing to do it (no start date yet, and per-diem but it is a job). For a SNF? No way.

I would be willing to drive up to 40 miles to work (been there done that) but I am very happy that I currently live only 2 miles from my job.

The commute was ok but Home Health and WIC were little she-devils. Sometimes I did 100 mi hither thither and yon plus commute. and if something unexpected arose then if would add plenty more. My cohorts couldn't understand why I was so willing to ride shotgun and let them have the mileage.

My little 68 Valiant loved me for it. The floorboards had fallen out and FIL had welded some old tobacco signs there. And if the carburetor stuck you could take a pair of pliers handle and hold the flapper open till it would start. Well worth not buying a new car while pg wi bb # 2. He drove that valiant tile it literally fell to pieces. Then he drove the 73 Dart until......{see above} and then he drove the 79 Chevette {as above} CO levels were OK cause no AC and very litle heat in any of them.

WHen I graduated I bought my first real (only 1 owner, Pontiac grand) and then gas went to $0.47 a gallon. YUK>

There's no such thing as a nice car "only driven to and from work by a nurse." HA HA

15 miles would be ideal for me. but it really would depend on if the pay was worth driving more than say 45 mins away.

I currently drive about 30 miles each way to work. My hubby goes about 45 miles to work, 50 to school. We could live closer to work, but like having a big yard and no neighbors. But, like someone else said, it's an easy, rural drive for most of our commute. When I was living back in Boston, I wouldn't consider even driving to work. If it wasn't on the subway, or bike-able, I was not going to work there!

I think I'm like most of the people here...depends on the job. 40 miles on Rt 3 in Boston...no thanks...but 40 miles on Rt 6 out here in the middle of nowhere...sure. The view is worth the drive....ocean, sand dunes, and the wild turkeys. Of course this all changes during tourist season.

I'm driving about 25 miles one way to work right now, how ever that is probably the most I would go, that's probably because of the traffic... I don't mind driving even up to 100 miles one way as long as the pay is right and I like the job, that only problem with my 25 miles drive is mostly traffic... I have to use some of the most congested freeway in US "CA91", and I really really hate being stuck in the middle of the road waiting for the other car to go...

I drive less than 10 miles each way. I'd have to be really desperate to take something farther away. Hope it never comes to that.

I live about two blocks away from work. I can get from my house not only to the hospital but clocked in on my unit in less than fifteen minutes.

I drive about 2 miles to my current job. I live outside of LA. There is only one hospital in this city, and the next closest is about 10-15 miles south. I really don't want to drive on the 5 freeway with its notorious traffic, so I take a bit less pay, like most of the people I work with, to not deal with any traffic.
