Is this 10 miles on an open road? Or 10 miles of stop-and-go traffic, full of jerks who cut me off? Time and stress, not mileage, are more important to me in deciding what is "too far".

If we're looking at 1 hour each way, that's 2 hours a day I'm stuck in traffic making no money and doing not much of anything useful or fun. It's also a daily expense of gas, tolls, and wear-and-tear on the car.

No more than 60 miles unless it was a phenomenal job offer. As much as I'd want to work, I also don't want to spend hours in the car when I could be spending some of that time with my family.

Driving a lots of mile and then start working After it all? I did that for 2months and i was sick and dying had to quit the job though it pays well, i will never try it again. Its good for those that can do it but we have to be concious of our health. Even if we feel we are so strong now, the tears and wears is not only on the car we are getting some!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I have several friends who drive 45 min to an hour to get to and from work each day. Thats not for me.

whoops i though it was in kilometres i went to school in the nearest city for my final two years 60km away and i have to admit it was tiring especially on a bus. so less than that!

it was once part of my job to bring new ambulances from dallas to san diego. once i found myself west of forth worth, in the middle of nowhere. i was looking for a smaller highway exit & thought for sure i'd missed it. nothing but tumble weeds. then i saw an oil rig with a pickup truck & 3 guys working. they told me that my exit was "just down the road a ways," where they lived, in the big city of pecos.

it was three hours down the road, and these guys thought nothing at all about driving 150 miles to work in the morning. un-believable.

so we all have different comfort zones.

I'm a new grad so I would be willing to travel up to 2 hours each way if I could find a nursing job. Right now I travel over 1 hour for a job that pays me $8.25/hr I would travel much further for anything that paid more than that.

I drive 49 miles one way to work. In the FL Everglades- at a boys Juvenile Detention Center, I like my job and the ride is a nice one, except for in the rain.. But I like my job- so I make the drive:redbeathe

Bless you thats how much i drive back and forth :D. I drive to Ft. Lauderdale from Miami!

I dont mind driving up to 30 miles one way as long as its the open highway and no traffic. I would last up to 1 hour highway driving. I would do only 5 miles if its city driving
