How Do Your Partners Feel About The Time You Spend On This Web Site

My partner is being very understanding about the time I now spend on this web site, reading and wrtiting posts I must spend hours coming back and forth to see what is going on. This morning the mood was slightly more sarcastic as I jumped out of bed to run to the computer 'I remember when you used have other things on your mind in the morning' :rotfl:

What I repied like running down stairs to make breakfast :coollook:

Seriously though I am so glad I didnt find this web site til after my NCLEX cause I definatly wouldn't have done any studying lol

Anybody else have partners who are less than thrilled with their competition

Specializes in Med-Surg.

Mine is used to it. I've had internet for many years and that's just the way it is. I try not to let it take away from our time together though. I usually spend my time here overnight while he's asleep.

I've lost time the number of times my wife has:

1) Roller her eyes

2) Said, "You know the garbage should go out now. . . "

3) or said, "Are you working on the music?"

4) or said, "Dinner has been ready for a while now!"

5) or said, "We're going to be late. . . "

The sad thing is that this is one of about 4 other web site that I visit regularly. I recently joined a bulletin board for composers!! It's very cool! I could spend HOURS there!!! (My wife would kill me if I did! :chuckle)

I'm actually better now than I used to be. When I'm home, I try to spend time on this and the other sites while she's sleeping. Otherwise I tend to "surf the net" the most during those slow nights at work, while my 1 to 2 patients safely sleep and their hearts go a-beatin'. . . ;)

I have to fight to get onto the computer with my husband and 2 kids all demanding there turn :o

Kay the 2nd :)

Here here...I too have to fight to get on the computer...if I want to be able to post, basically it must be no my day off alone (when hubby works), or get up at like 0400-0600 and get some time!

But my hubby has no probelm with me being her posting at all. He knows it is part of me in my quest to understand why I am upset with my career...and if I am alone in the reasons why (which I have found...I am far from alone and that helps!!!!!). Plus it brings up great convo starters about medical for work and home! Naaaaa...he has seen a vast improvement in me since I started coming on here :)!

Plus, I have hosted and belonged to many local news forums for about 5 years now, before that live chats (local news forum chats only!)...and that is what I do for fun :). He goes on and watches funny videos or other things from sites that crack me up! So I am the talker, he is the watcher...basically just like when we are away from the computer..LOL!!!!

My husband does not mind at all. I learn so much here & if I'm on all nurses he gets a break from giving me out questions! He is very supportive & will ask "learn anything new". I love this site & probally spend a little more time on it than I really should.

I'm not sure my husband even knows I come here. He knows I spend a fair amount of time on the computer, though, because I work from home part of the time for my job. I tend to work for a while, take a break and surf for a few and then return to work, so even if he knows I visit this site, he wouldn't know how long I stay. Luckily, he hardly ever wants to use the computer, and my son has his own, so I've got free reign on this one.

My husband doesn't mind, but he doesn't understand either. He thinks I'm a bit nuts.

Well, mine too, but he drew that conclusion long before I came to allnurses....

my husband doesn't mind - I have even read him some funny postings and he's laughed

he also belongs to a few forums - the one for people who own diesel trucks, one for people who build their own fishing rods, one for people who smoke cigars, and I think one that has to do with hockey - so, my one nursing forum (the only one I belong to) is not a big deal - if it is, he's too scared to tell me!! LOL :coollook:

My BF thinks all the spam and crapola that invades our computer comes from here!

Riiiiiight.....like his Extreme Wrestling websites couldn't POSSIBLY be the culprit!

Specializes in ICU, PICC Nurse, Nursing Supervisor.

My husband knows I have an addiction to this site and he thinks I spend way to much time on it. It is my saving grace between study sessions and just a way to unwind for me. My husband is a Software engineering student so I have 5 compouter setups and one laptop, we have all- nurses on every one ... :rotfl: And since I get all the replys sent to my email because I like to kep up with the threads, I sometimes accumulate thousands of emails in my account ( I have some special email to allow for unllimited email or something like that). One day after work he met me at the door and said "do you know how many emails you have in your account" I said no how many... he said "3,586 90% from your nursing site, you need to fix this woman, your clouding up the system":rotfl: :rotfl:
