I was just curious.I just came across a few posts created by super Moderators ..soo uhmmm...yeah... How does one become a SUPER MODERATOR?
I must have been asleep on planet Zuro, I missed this thread, such a shame it has made interesting reading.
You know Leahjet that thread has caused me no end of problems, I had so many PM's some saying 'Great it should have been closed earlier' and some saying "I'm not happy you closed that thread'
I too was getting a lot from the actual thread that I made sure we had a good discussion in the Mod forum, regarding opening or closing the thread. Again a mixed review, but what you all have to realise when One amongst hundreds thread is causing a lot of work behind the scenes and is reported upteen times, and posters are getting upset then the value of keeping it open has to be reviewed. I know it was not a popular decission.

What thread? I must have missed it.

Other times, we reach a mutual decision, that for the good of the membership and in keeping with our Terms of Service, a thread should remain closed. This is particularly true when a thread is rife with inflammatory comments and/or direct attacks and is taking a lot of moderation and time to try to get it back on track. In this case, often, it is decided a thread should remain closed. Also let me say, Brian's policy is that threads should be closed rarely, if at all.
Well ... sometimes threads are closed for reasons I can't understand at all. Just as an example ... Not long ago, a thread was closed in the California section when someone asked how much typical RN hourly rates were for the Inland Empire region. The moderators referred them to a thread on the same topic in the general nursing section.
But finding out how much somebody makes in Kansas doesn't help you figure out market rates in specific areas of Southern California. It was a thread that actually would have been really helpful if it had been allowed to continue but, it was shut down nonethless. There were no inflammatory comments, no violations of the TOS ... nothing except people trying to share info so they could make better job choices.
Obviously it's your board but, sometimes I don't understand where certain decisions come from ... makes no sense to me.

To be honest with you, I've questioned this sometimes myself. I don't always appreciate a curt "this is being discussed here...(link provided).....this thread is closed.
Some of the mods feel that if a topic is frequently discussed, and a link provided, the posters still have the opportunity to post on the one thread, rather than have multiple threads discussion the same thing. Examples would be "which are better nurses ADNs or RNs", "Do nurses eat their young", "Can I be nurse with a criminal record", "how much do RNs make in...........", especially if there is currently an ongoing thread that the poster might have missed, thus there's good information that the poster can read in that thread.
Again, please provide your feedback to the administrators on the link provided in this thread when things don't make sense. As I've said, I've used it several times myself. Sometimes you might get a clarification or if nothing else your opinion would be expressed.
When a mod is trying to redirect a thread full of childishness and disrespect, it should be done in an adult and respectful manner. The 99% of the people on a thread that are respectful shouldn't have to read a "children behave" type of chastisement when it's only a few people on the thread being childish and disrespectful. We as mods should take notice to how this feels to the general membership. I know how it made me feel prior to becoming a mod.
My point exactly. Thank you.

It would only be obvious to YOU and the mods. No one else can see your warning scale icon. Also, you can't see your own red triangle--you can't report your own post! If you change your mind about something you posted, you can edit it, or contact a moderator for assistance.
The only thing someone could be rapidly banned for is those folks who come on our board and spam numerous threads w/ads or stuff not pg-13, if you get my drift.
Newbies come on sometimes and ask the same question on lots of different forums, trying to get a quick response. That's annoying, but easily dealt w/, won't get them banned.
