I was just curious.I just came across a few posts created by super Moderators ..soo uhmmm...yeah... How does one become a SUPER MODERATOR?

I am just curious how much time you guys spend on it average. It seems I see Smillinblueyes EVERYWHERE, when do you find time to go to work? And my 2 cents, I don't like the reply to search for it either. Sometimes hard or impossible and I have wasted hours searching at times. Of course over time you do learn to navigate the site better.

And some poeple who reply to 'repeat' threads spend only two minutes providing links that anybody could have searched for to get an answer (i'm not talkking about the people that actually HAVE searched and came up with no answers).

Some (did not say all) people don't do a search for the answers they're looking for, i've seen a few where someone practically posts their whole assignment in their post, then asks for "help" for over 10 questions. And some do it because, within a few minutes, someone has answered, saving them the time and effort to look it up themselves.

You do see a lot of our staff and our very active members spending tons of time here. We often joke about Allnurses addiction and withdrawal issues. Many nurses work pretty neat schedules though. I work three 12's per week, so I have a ton of 'play time' at the moment.

The problem is that those of us who do really care and write long detailed answers to inquiries - start to get seriously burn out providing the exact same info over and (and over and over and over....) again. So we stop replying. Then you have the OP getting snippy because they are not getting the answers.

I personally believe that if you are really interested in a topic, you will research it before posting or at least look at the current threads first. It takes work but then so does everything good in life.

And you find some great threads along the way.

The other thing, is I am possibly the most computer incompetent here and cannot post links. If I can find a good dozen or more threads on a topic, most people can.

For example, every single week (or more so in the winter), someone decides that they want to move to FL. Or they have moved to FL, and are getting peeved at the pay rates they are being offered.

So they post a "How much should I ask for/what is the pay/where should live/I have X years of experience and am worth more/all my grad friends in Jersey arew getting bonuses" thread. And all they have to do is look in the tons of FL threads to get in depth answers immediately.

The problem is, they do not like the answers there. Unfortunately, that we cannot fix.

Other topics:

Do I REALLY HAVE to have a year of experience before traveling (I worked as a unit secretary for a year/went to a REALLY good school/ had GOOD grades/yadda yadda). The answer is YES.

And I had a DUI/many DUI/DV charge/Felony - 2monthes ago/2 years ago/two decades ago - it really was not my fault/I was depressed/it was bogus rap. Can I get a nursing license now.

And my fav, why is it so hard to get into nursing schhol?

New members who go to the trouble of doing a search on particular topic might see how some of the problematic ones ended. Granted, some are long, but that alone should tell them that they need to scope things out before opening a new thread. If there are seven threads on a given subject and most of them went down in flames, perhaps one should tread carefully in that territory.

I, too, feel bad for members who post eloquent messages only to watch the thread deteriorate at the hands of the hostile and immature. Unfortunately, this is a societal problem for which there are no easy solutions.

It's frustrating when new folks come in like gangbusters and don't bother to learn anything about the site before posting. One of the most common mistakes is to post an identical message in anywhere from two to a dozen different forums, thinking they'll generate a bigger response. They get a response, all right, that spamming is not allowed and that they need to stick to a single forum, develop a little patience, and, while they are waiting, perhaps read the dadgum Terms of Service. I know most of them mean well, but it's like deciding you'll join the football game by just showing up on the field with a game in progress and deciding you're just going to do your own thing. You might have fun, but you're going to draw fire.

Maybe new members should automatically go to a screen that gives a streamlined version of the ToS along with a list of common missteps that we hope they'll be able to avoid.

How is it I have so much time to spend here?

WELLLLLLL.....I work perdiem and have homeschooled two kids for years. I am home more than anyplace else......

I have plenty of time to help out here cause I rarely watch TV. This is my addiction, rather than TV, going to clubs or gambling. I guess I belong to AllnursesAddictsAnonymous!!!! (or I should perhaps start it)....lol
