I was just curious.I just came across a few posts created by super Moderators ..soo uhmmm...yeah... How does one become a SUPER MODERATOR?

These appointments/decisions are made by the site creator and owner, Brian.
He and his team of administrators (as well as other moderators) nominate and choose members to act as moderators based on their belief the candidates support the philosophies and Terms of Service for the site, as well are willing to help members make this a pleasant and informative place to visit.
Further, moderators are made "super moderators" after serving a period of time and are seen as ready to assume the responsibilities/duties of being "super moderators".

Almost all of us were posters just like yourself, enjoying the website posting away. We all are still members just like yourself, posting away and enjoying the site.

So what are the duties/responsibilities of moderators/super-moderators/staff? I know you all are very helpful.
In a nutshell to make sure people comply with the Terms of Service. We take care of flamers, trolls, spammers and whatnot. I see SmilingBluEyes is online so I won't say much more in case she's trying to answer.
We're also an open minded group. Prior to being a moderator I've had a few very minor disagreeements with them. We're always willing to talk with open-minded mature folks. :)

Tweety has answered it very well. We are all regular members like you and just take a very vested interest in the site and the desire to keep it friendly, engaging and informative. Glad you asked.
Mainly, our duties are to:
Be here for questions/needs of the membership. We are a resource for you----to help you navigate the site and get questions you have answered.
Problem-solve for you. If you have problems with the site, e.g. technical issues, you may Private message any of us or the Administrative Team to get these resolved. Or you can go the the appropriate forum, where these issues are posted and solved by the management/administrative team.
We are here to keep the site friendly and welcoming for all members, new and not-so-new. If you have an issue with an inappropriate post or direct attack, as moderators, we ask you not respond in kind, but instead, let us know. You can do this by using the Red Triangle on the post, lower left corner, to report it. It's our job to address these issues and clear them up as they arise. But we rely on the general membership to be our "eyes and ears" to help make that happen, as we simply cannot be everywhere at all times.
Basically, we are here to make your experience at allnurses.com pleasant and enjoyable, as well as safe. Call on any of us when you need assistance or have a question.

How are moderators selected for this site?
Well, we all file into the Sistine Chapel where we sit on thrones with curtains that drop down to conceal our faces. No, wait, that's for electing a pope.
Seriously, Brian, the head honcho/owner of this site, along with the current mods nominate new mod candidates based on previous interactions, ability to keep a level head (even in a heated debate), consistent demonstration of respect for the board and fellow members, nursing background, nursing specialty areas, communications skills, computer fluency, and anything else we can think of. Knowledge level is important. Wisdom--the ability to apply that knowledge along with common sense--is even more so.
Mod candidates are then PM'd and invited to fill out an application. Some decline. They're too busy or have other reasons for saying no. Those who do apply are then evaluated and many become new mods.
Here is a tongue-in-cheek list of helpful qualifications:
1. It helps if you've been dropped on your head a few times.
2. Must have hide thicker than a rhinocerous.
3. Must be able to hear the phrase, "eat their young," without disintegrating into a weeping puddle.
4. Must be able to smell a troll at 50 paces.
5. Should be able to laugh hysterically on command.
I'm sure my fellow mods can think of a few more.

Yes, we have the white smoke, but it comes out our ears. The uniform is a cloak of invisibility and a tin foil hat, but I don't think I'm supposed to divulge that so mum's the word.
