I was just curious.I just came across a few posts created by super Moderators ..soo uhmmm...yeah... How does one become a SUPER MODERATOR?

Specializes in NICU, Infection Control.

We take a vow never to strangle a member who posts:

"Should I get a ADN or a BSN? What's the difference between MSN and a CNA?...." there are more of these, but you get the drift.

The mods on this site are probably some of the best I've seen...I rarely see trolls, profanity is kept to a minimum, threads are closed before they get too heated or WAY off topic. Some of the other boards I visit make you think the mods ARE the troublemakers.

Good job, everyone!

:)

Specializes in ER/Trauma.
Here is a tongue-in-cheek list of helpful qualifications:

1. It helps if you've been dropped on your head a few times.

2. Must have hide thicker than a rhinocerous.

3. Must be able to hear the phrase, "eat their young," without disintegrating into a weeping puddle.

4. Must be able to smell a troll at 50 paces.

5. Should be able to laugh hysterically on command.

I'm sure my fellow mods can think of a few more.

:nono: Stop giving secrets away!

Is nothing sacred anymore?!!

Whoops - wrong thread :imbar :p

LOL...you guys are funny....

Some of us also take on (almost) Goddess-like qualities, especially when faced with the LPN vs. RN debate.

What? Other Mods have tin-foil hats and invisibility cloaks???? I think I got gyped.... Obviously a sense of humour does help lots. :)

Specializes in Med-Surg, Trauma, Ortho, Neuro, Cardiac.

Thank you and I second that. I've been on some unmoderated boards and they are just plain ugly. When Webtv came out there were a few good message boards to visit, then as when humans online get together people began to fight.......endlessly and profanely........then spammers took over.

I'd rather have a moderated forum any day.

Some of the moderated boards are worse though...I got booted off one because the moderator decided that I lied about my sister dying...she didn't read the obit in the newspaper and was sure I was just looking for attention. She might have read the obit had she looked in the Lincoln, NEBRASKA newspaper instead of the Lincoln, ILLINOIS newspaper.

If you're talking Webtv, I agree. Whenever someone would get angry in a group they would start their own moderated group. It's can get ugly when there's one moderator sometimes.

That's one good thing about this group, there are lots of moderators and believe it or not we discuss things and don't always agree, or play follow the leader, but in the end a bunch of heads are better than one.

Not talking about WebTV, but I do find that to be very true...people get mad at everyone on one board, start their own, invite everyone to join, and then start banning people or editing posts simply because they do not agree. It's especially funny when moderators who haven't posted in six months are making all sorts of decisions.

Yeah. I know of two message boards that were started by disgruntled members here who couldn't swallow the TOS. Wonder how they are doing now? We're still here and growing. :monkeydance:

Specializes in NICU, PICU, PCVICU and peds oncology.

The Super Mods moderate the rest of us mods. We're all as human as the next guy and can get carried away when someone pushes our buttons. They're great with a gentle reminder that being a moderator doesn't excuse childish behaviour.

I could add another criterion to our list of qualifications. It really helps to either have parented or at least lived with teenaged girls. If you can handle them you can handle anything.

Amen, my sister! :monkeydance:
