Some of us also take on (almost) Goddess-like qualities, especially when faced with the LPN vs. RN debate. What? Other Mods have tin-foil hats and invisibility cloaks???? I think I got gyped.... Obviously a sense of humour does help lots. :)Suebird :)

Your invisibility cloak is on back-order. Seems they can't find them in the warehouse. As for the tin-foil hat, you can make your own out of Reynolds' finest or interwoven gum wrappers. I prefer the turban effect of the Jiffy Pop model (although the handle does get in the way at times).

Some of the moderated boards are worse though...I got booted off one because the moderator decided that I lied about my sister dying...she didn't read the obit in the newspaper and was sure I was just looking for attention. She might have read the obit had she looked in the Lincoln, NEBRASKA newspaper instead of the Lincoln, ILLINOIS newspaper.
There was one i used to go to, that was more of a peeing contest than a nursing board. Once people got their moderator status, the power trip ensued, their online personality was 180 different, VERY arrogant (any and every opportunity to point out that they are a mod), and the application of the rules was selective.

Guess I will just make do with 2 faded gowns and a pan on my head. Granted, I'll look a bit strange, sitting in the nearest tree......

My cloak must be with suebird's. I can totally get into the Jiffy Pop turban! But I have access to wire cutters in my unit... so I'll be hacking off that pesky handle. Hmmm. Alternate use could be as a you-can-write-all-those-orders-you-just-gave-me-down-in-the-chart-since-you're-standing-there-anyway persuader...

You can always appeal a decision made by a mod/admin by posting in the admin feedback thread. They are very understanding and if the member is correct the decision will be reversed. Most moderation stems from a direct and obvious violation of the TOS in which ALL members here have agreed to abide by, though.
Not talking about WebTV, but I do find that to be very true...people get mad at everyone on one board, start their own, invite everyone to join, and then start banning people or editing posts simply because they do not agree. It's especially funny when moderators who haven't posted in six months are making all sorts of decisions.:)
:)
Keep in mind that being a Moderator does not require posting, it only requires that one ensures that members are obeying the TOS.
On a side note, IMHO (and I am NOT referring to myself), I think it is because of the staff at allnurses that this site is such a GREAT site! The mods/admin are the "quality control" of this site, and by doing our jobs, we ensure a QUALITY website. I do not understand how anyone can AGREE to the TOS and then object when they are edited because of a violation to the TOS. However, for the majority of members that abide by the TOS, we are here to ensure that they have the same high quality website that they deserve.
Sincerely,
Jay (honored to be a moderator of this great site!)

Leslie is right . . . you'll get burned . . . . .
(We can be hot to handle sometimes).

when it comes to the tos and any subsequent violations, then it is clear as to why certain interventions are implemented.
but when 1 mod personally believes in healthy, animated debating, but another mod may think it's getting too heated and there are no concrete violations, there lie the inconsistencies.
one mod may close a thread, prematurely to some.
whereas another mod lets it continue.
it's when the varied 'perspectives' of what is appropriate or not, is when it sometimes gets frustrating.
but i very much respect brian and his vision of what this bb represents.
i think we all agree on that. :)
Online? Yes most certainly.

I have seen this term a few times, and have an idea of what it means, but could someone give me an actual definition?
What is a troll? (As mentioned on the discussion boards) I obviously know what a troll is per the fairy tale variety.
Thanks!
