How do you assess this video of fainting public official?

They ruled out heart problems and stroke, according to the news. What's your best guess, based on what you see here?

TIA or hypoglycemia. I'd say TIA, because the symptoms were pretty sudden onset for hypoglycemia.

I suppose they did an carotid US. They say he was given a clean bill of health.

I wonder if they adjusted his BP meds and told him to make sure he stays hydrated? Maybe he's been fighting off a flu and has had a stressful schedule of late, with lots of travel.

I had a sudden onset of hypoglycemia as a teen, all the sudden I didn't feel well and told my mom everything went black. I passed out. It was so sudden. I say hypoglycemia.

CNN said that he had "scaled back public appearances" recently, and they also made mention of him looking very tired. I'm with you guys, I was thinking TIA. "They" say everything's fine....

Of course, this is the same "they" that never told us Eisenhower had experienced an MI or Wilson was so debilitated from a CVA his wife practically ran the country, or that Pres. Grover Cleveland had cancer of the jaw....So, I'm still thinking TIA...

Yep, I'd call it a classic TIA as well, even though TPTB deny it. This man is only 67? He looks 80, and I'd be willing to bet his arteries are even 'older' due to high stress levels.

JMHO.

TIA cannot be ruled out with imaging. My first impression is a TIA.

agree w/you both.

of course, 'they' will deny any serious health issues.

whatever it was, he needs to watch himself.

My guess is TIA also. He looks MUCH older than 67. I would guess 82.

Don't like his color at all. Anemia? Looks more like 77 than 67. Looks kinda thin also. Can't help but wonder what meds he is on and how they related to the fainting spell. Clean bill of health? How can they do that in less than a day?

Specializes in Med-Surg, ED.

I was thinking TIA as I watched it but he is so pale, as someone else mentioned. It could have been some kind of syncopal episode, related some internal bleeding we don't know about, that led to a faint. If not for his color I'd say TIA as well.

My best guess is postprandial hypotension due to his age and the medical history ruled out:smilecoffeeIlovecof. My second guess is that life is just catching up with him and he just really needs to break from all the stress and sleep.

He could have just had a vasovagal episode. That was my impression. Or he could have had a partial seizure.

Also, none of our business if he doesn't want to tell.
