How do you assess this video of fainting public official?

They ruled out heart problems and stroke, according to the news. What's your best guess, based on what you see here?

Actually, since he is Attorney General if the United States, I think it is somewhat our business. He has a very high level government job.

I know the president is required to have a physical, they always publish a disclosure of that.

My guess is TIA also. He looks MUCH older than 67. I would guess 82.

82 is exactly the age I would have guessed. My husband and I both commented this morning about how he looks much older than his stated age.

My best guess is postprandial hypotension due to his age and the medical history ruled out:smilecoffeeIlovecof. My second guess is that life is just catching up with him and he just really needs to break from all the stress and sleep.

Huh! Post-prandial hypotension is a really good guess! I wouldn't have thought of it, but it's a definite possibility.

tia was ruled out as well.

i have seen a few vaso-vagal faints go exactly like that. if tia and hypoglycemia were ruled out, it could be what happened.

I think it was a TIA even though they denied cardiac problems.

I agree with TIA, but taking a blood sugar couldn't hurt.

Let me share a story: my uncle, corporate attorney for the world's largest airline company, walked into his kitchen for coffee and fell on the floor -PLUNK!

Being an intelligent and educated man, he reasoned he was having an inner ear problem.

The very next morning, he did an encore - PLUNK! - spread out on the kitchen floor like a rug!

Again, he told himself, inner ear (must get it checked out)!

When he took a dive in the foyer of his office building, EVAC arrived just in time. He had emergent quadruple by-pass that very afternoon.

So they "ruled out stroke, cardiac, or stress problems". HMMMM ! Wait for the announcement. It will come.

Specializes in ED, ICU, PACU.

Don't care what they are telling the public. Any ER I have worked would call that a TIA. There is no way to rule TIA out if it's resolved upon admission to the ER, that's why the condition is call TRANSIENT ischemic attack.

Do feel sorry for the guy. Since he does look so much older than his stated age, maybe he has other medical conditions to contend with, like thyroid.

The vagal response suggestions made me laugh. I *know* it's possible to experience it in other situations; but I've only seen people vagal when they were on the toilet. The thought of the poor guy up there with a depends, or maybe something in the report scared the crap out of him...it just made me laugh.

I still think TIA.

I think TIA as well. My son has neurocardiogenic syncope (vasovagal faint) and it does not manifest like that at all. My son's syncope has never been on the toilet but after repeated episodes of vomiting, dehydration or extreme heat exposure.

low blood sugar, syncope r/o ACS, low bp due to beta blockers, lack of sleep??? dehydration, anxiety?? durg toxicity?
