  1. I will direct some of these naysayers to read an excellent New Yorker article by the very esteemed writer/physician Atul Gawande's "The Learning Curve" Annals of Medicine: The Learning Curve : The New Yorker I know that these nurses aren't doctors the article talks about, nonetheless they are HERE as professionals.
  2. we are, now, newly minted RNs, all from CA. We all graduated on Dec 2009.
  3. there were many of us who took the exam (cohort 7 of el camino college, i.e. more than 10 of us...did the pearson vue trick and it worked every time), having said that i'm going to vouch for it. also, i've never read or heard of any one experiencing the opposite (nclex-rn)...getting the "good" pop-up window and failing; it's always been "good" pop-up window and passing
  4. i highly recommend this board since it helped me so much in passing my nclex-rn exam. i took it on may10th and found out that i passed the exam on may 13th in CA. thanks you guys for having such wonderful support to a once nursing student (and will always be).
  5. i took it on may 10th and found out officially that i passed on may 13th through CA BRN's website. My test stopped at 75. there were a bunch of SATAs, prioritization questions and drugs i've never heard of as a nursing student. yeah, i hate it before every time i checked the CA BRN and my name not showing up. just relax, i think yours will show up monday early morning. goodluck. i am 99.9% sure that you passed your exam from what you are telling us.
  6. the pearson vue trick worked for me. i immediately tried it (and a millions times thereafter) after taking the nclex-rn exam provided that the testing ctr has my exam status as "delivery successful". consequently it wouldn't let me re-register for another exam, i.e. refused to accept my payment and directed me to contact BRN. it took me three days to find out of my result as having passed the exam through CA BRN's website, as many of you know CA doesn't participate in quick results. anyway, i'm happy now but will be happier if i have work here in CA. YAY
  7. i'm 37 and just graduated this december 2009. yay!!!!! and now for the nclex. lols
  8. i thought peer reviews by nature ought to have both positive and negative feedbacks. it is not worth a read if it is not balanced.
  9. first of all, you must quit this defeatist nonsense. no way you'll do this; rather, off you go to an accredited school to do some of your prereqs---finish even if you have to tackle them one by one. you'll be so surprised by the end of your prereqs that you've grown much more than you can imagine when you begun your trek. but you won't stop there, of course---you'll continue by filling out a nursing school application form. wait patiently until accepted in one nursing school, where you will learn to apply what you've learned from your prereq days. you won't believe how amazing how things are interrelated in the grand scheme of things. it's going to be a lot of fun, as learning should be. you are already a nurse---an LPN for goodness sake. i don't exactly know what you are complaining about.
  10. just because you got to see observe a specific part of nursing from your end, it doesn't necessarily mean that overall nursing is that way. generalization is such a tricky thing to handle.
  11. adrenaline junkie present here---so i'm guessing, it's better for me to get a job in a fast paced and highly charged department like in ER, trauma or ICU?
  12. regardless, while the federal law is in effect, the pro-life has the upper hand on this one.
  13. personally, i dislike the law and i hope it gets repealed (as obama vowed to do) because it FURTHER expands the government involvement and thus power into the healthcare industry and in the lives of many people.
