Just wondering how everyone finances their education?
Board of Governors Fee Waiver, Pell Grant, Cal Grant, Stanford Loan, Spousal Support (just got divorced), child support...and I slang coffee at Starbucks 2 days a week.
But I'm wrapping up my CNA class in a few weeks so hopefully I can make the leap from Starbucks to Hospital CNA and work (3) 12 hour shifts and still go to school. Or maybe do home health care until I can finish school. Doing the Starbucks thing at 32 years old SUCKS.
If I don't get into the RN programthis go round, I'm all set to start the the LVN or Psychiatric Tech program at my local ROP in January. Anything to kill time and add more licenses under my belt while I wait for my seat.
With the way things are looking I will be an Acute Care CNA, Phlebotomist, LVN and Psych tech by the time a spot opens up for me at one of the community colleges. :uhoh21: And by that time my three year old will be starting nursing school....then maybe we can carpool lol
Pell grants, cal grants, covered all tuition and then some. I took out an extra small loan to help pay bills and supplies while in school. Since my program is very intense and full time, I work as a CNA doing two 12-hour shifts a week to pay rent. Luckily my hospital has a tuition reimbursement program so I will get money for that too. This is a BSN program.
I am just about to start the first semester of my BSN program. I work as an ER Tech and live at home so I will try to pay my way through school. I get tuition reimbursement from work that helps out and I plan on applying to as many scholarships as I can and using my tax return money towards school as well. If that isn't enough then I will apply for private loans through my bank.
