Houston Nurse Residency Summer 2021 Applicants

Published

I wanted to start a new thread for those of us applying to Houston new grad nurse residency programs to ask questions and share information.

I am brand new to this site so I hope I'm doing this correctly... Good luck everyone!

Is this the first interview you've had (since the pre-screen)? Or did you have another interview after the pre-screen? All I've heard is crickets. ? I applied at Methodist TMC only.

What unit did you apply for? I heard from TMC ER but will turn down the invite because I already accepted at another Methodist location ?

Yeah this is the first thing I've heard back from them after the pre-screen

I applied for acute care, but selected IMU, Oncology and it seems like maybe one more (med surg)? They asked me that specificslly when I did the pre-screen. When I did the application, I selected acute and OR. I really prefer acute care but was pre-screened for the OR as well. The recruiter said she would recommend just pursuing acute care, so I don't plan on hearing back from them. Still hoping to hear back from the other though!

People who did Methodist TMC for OR have already completed prescreen and our interviews, we're just waiting to receive offers. I wonder when they will send out offers for the OR

I heard back from Methodist TMC ER about scheduling an interview

Has anyone heard back for Houston Methodist TMC Oncology?

Specializes in Emergency.

Is St. Luke's just one interview? Does anyone know? Or will there be an invite for a second interview after the first big group one

Has anyone heard from TCH yet? I know some people heard back from NICU, but any other units?

I am not sure, I believe it is just one! Is this interview a panel interview or group interview?

Would y’all accept an offer in a position you don’t like? I am so passionate about women’s services, but the only offer I’ve received is in a PCU unit at HCA. every other hospital has literally ghosted me, I’ve received no rejection letters but no communication either. my application status’s all sat under review. I’ve emailed and bugged every hospital; the only responses I’ve gotten is “they are still in the process.” After receiving a 3.7 and working in pediatric home health for 4 years, I feel as if my college experience and what I’ve arrived for will go to waste if I accept a position in the PCU. But I feel like I have no other option. WhT would y’all do? waiting until the next cohort and reapplying is my least favorite option right now

I wouldn’t accept a position I don’t want personally especially not with HCA’s contract. You have really amazing experience it sounds like- better than me for sure. Maybe someone could look over your resume (career services, a nurse you know, etc.) to see if there is a way you could stand out more? Maybe if you put TMC first then you could put some other locations first in the next go around? Memorial Hermann and Methodist recruit again starting in May, so it’s really not that far away. If you’re heart is in women’s health then I wouldn’t settle. I know it’s hard when you want a job though!

I agree! Maybe wait until you get something that you are passionate about, with that experience I’m sure you will find a good job ?
