Houston Nurse Residency Summer 2021 Applicants

I wanted to start a new thread for those of us applying to Houston new grad nurse residency programs to ask questions and share information.

I am brand new to this site so I hope I'm doing this correctly... Good luck everyone!

Has anyone heard back from Memorial Hermann TMC for Neuro ICU?

so I haven’t heard back from MH, Harris, or Houston Methodist yet. HCA tomball reached out to schedule an interview for ICU, what do y’all know about HCA??

I applied to 3 different ICUs for HCA, got 3 interviews, and all 3 times, when I showed up to the interview it was either for IMU or medsurg ?.  They have a 2 year contract as well.  It’s a job, just make sure you know EXACTLY what you’re signing up for with them

OMG okay yeah they said I’d be interviewing for ICU/PCU. I don’t mind it but definitely wanting ICU instead of PCU. what do I need to know ?

I just heard back from Harris today, so you still may hear back!

Like this is the first time they've contacted you? For which hospital and unit?

My friend got contacted for match day interview with MH TMC Neuro ICU on the 19th but declined bc she got another offer from a different state

ya it’s the first time. Ben Taub & Med Surg/Psych unit

Yeah my friend did the match day interview! I’m asking if anyone has heard back about offers like since the interview. That’s my friends top choice but they haven’t heard back yet.

Do you suggest applying to all the HCA postings? I applied to the one that just said Nurse Residency Program like it wasn't specific. I haven't heard anything back either except an email asking me to reply with my expected graduation date then no response

That’s what happened to me !  I was told it would be ICU, but I only ended up interviewing with the PCU ladies.  I wouldn’t have minded, but they require 2 YEARS contract with  the PCU floor before they’ll let you train for ICU.  That was too much of a commitment for me, what if you don’t even end up liking the unit ??

They’ll only let you apply for the new grad residency program

Harris Health called me today to schedule an interview for medsurge psych at Ben Taub as well. They basically said they were done with all first round interviews for both LBJ and Ben Taub. What they're doing right now is setting up second round interviews for spots that were declined or not filled ?
