Staff members at Palisades Medical Center have been suspended for allegedly peeking at actor George Clooney's confidential medical information after he was hurt in a motorcycle accident last month.
Resubmitting: didn't appear to post the first time. Please accept apologies if this double posts!
Hey kids, I get the nervous twitter thing, but if you switch our subject's gender from hunkalicious George to babealicious female, how would you respond to your own comments here?
I'm just saying...
Agreed. I'm really cringing here.
I'm thinking that ol' George might not be so understanding if he'd been treated for something REALLY personal, like gonorrhea, instead of crashing his bike.
Those medical personnel who truly violated HIPAA should be terminated.
Honestly though, I think the hospital is probably overreacting to some extent. More than likely, there were SOME who looked at the medical record, and one who leaked the info - and then the hospital went nuts and accused anyone and everyone who was on shift while George was there.
Maybe I'm wrong... but we all know what a "crisis" is like at a hospital. Rumors are rampant and administration wants to cover its butt so bad that they'll take everyone out in the name of their name. KWIM?
Its not worth doing something like this. What thrill is it knowing someones medical information anyways.
No kidding! Wouldn't finding out he has anal fissures or something gross just completely take the fantasy of him on the big screen away? You'll never look at him the same so why snoop... lol?
the ones who did this were wrong, but how can so many of them be wrong at the same time?? don't they have any teaching, makes you scared to go into a hospital[of course i haven't starred in any hits lately]
not to rain on anyones parade but a md who worked on the show as a medical consultant was quoted about the depth of the stupidity of the actors
We had a several situation where some employees looked at another employees record while he was a patient at the same hospital. After an investigation all staff members where fired and the employee filed am EEO and won. This is seroius stuff if you have no need to know then mind your own.............................
There is no gray area here. This is a HIPAA violation of the worst kind. It was simply for gossip, not need-to-know.
And, by the way, an employee in my hospital was fired for looking up her husband's labs. Another, for looking up her OWN records.
This is some serious s***, and they take no prisoners.
