Doing some research today and found a good one for lady partsl yeast infections-Insert a fresh clove of garlic wrapped in cheese cloth....I don't think so!

A former neighbor would wipe her baby boy's faces with their wet diaper to prevent acne when they got older. They never did have a zit but then again she and her husband both had very nice complexions.

Have you heard/seen any wacky home remedies to share?

There are people n my family who have done the wet diaper to prevent acne, have not tried it myself though  I have also been told to put spit on my sons feet when he has a cold. No idea on the reasoning behind that one :p

I've heard eating yogurt can help prevent yeast infections. I've also heard that INSERTING yogurt can treat an existing yeast infection...I don't think I want to know if that one's true or not...*clever fruit-on-the-bottom joke here*

Someone I work with was told to freeze yogurt and insert the yogurt to treat a yeast infection while she was pregnant. That one is true. My great-grandmother use to rub kerosene on my Dad's knees when they hurt when he was a child. My grandmother tells me that pulling the skin out of the egg shell and placing it over a boil or a pimple will make it come to a head so that you can take a pin to it to extract the pus. Another of my great-grandmothers cures is to cut a vee in the middle of the the top of a toe nail that is ingrown and it will cause it to grown the correct way. Also put a little iodine along the sides if it is infected and in a few days it will be better. That one really works.

Boiling an umbilical cord stump and giving baby the cord "tea", for babys first cold.

No thanks Grandma. :p

We used to have yougurt "tampons" at the hosptial I worked at. We used tampons with plastic applicators, took the tampon out, filled them with plain yougurt and froze them. Apparently they worked well...one of the docs even used prophylacticly for females on a lot of antibiotics. Weird!

We also used shredded potatoes for hemorrhoids and cabbage leaves to help with sore nipples.

A lot of home remedies actually work...but some seem too bizzare to try!

The cabbage leaves do help with the sore nipples and breast. Especially if you keep them in the frig.

From tv: a guy came into a hospital because the concrete cast he had put on himself was becoming too painful but not until it had pretty thoroughly hardened. He had fairly severe alkaline burns under the cement.

The cabbage leaves DO work!!! I was in so much pain when I had mastitis with my first son that I made my husband go to the store and get a bunch of cabbage and it really worked! Though I was so desperate at that point that if someone told me to ease the pain I had to sit upside-down in a corner and eat rocks I would have done it....LOL

When I was a kid, I was told that eating ants is good for your eyes. lol

Omg, I live in the south and there are a TON of "home remedies" I've heard of. Now being put on the spot, the only one I can remember is putting hot black rocks in a childs ears to cure an ear infection. As I think of more of them I will post them. There are sooo many down here!
