  1. https://www.facebook.com/YoungPaperboyzMusic/videos/711739028927034/?pnref=story Just saw this video this morning!
  2. Our honeymoon is not booked yet & I have already brought it up to my fiance that we may not be going on one.. at least not right away! I feel bad because I know he would be able to easily get the time off but it's just a completely different story on my end. I have been applying to this hospital for well over a year and value this job so much! I have been told that we accumulate 8 hours of PTO per pay period, so I would have enough time saved up. I will just cross my fingers and hope for the best! Thank you for the replies!
  3. I am starting a new job next week. I had one interview and was given the job offer from HR. I am also getting married at the end of June.. This is not a far away destination wedding or anything but it would be nice to get the week off :) I have asked several people when & how I should bring this up to my new employer, and I have gotten mixed answers (anywhere from tell her asap through e-mail, to tell her when you start and see her, to it can wait a couple of months). I am leaning towards the sooner the better... So my question is: is it okay to e-mail my new manager about this now ...or is it overkill to ask 7 months in advance?
  4. Anyone?? Student experiences at this hospital? Or.. has anyone worked with Maxim in the bay area for per diem hospital work?
  5. Anyone have experience working at this hospital? I have the opportunity to work there on a per diem basis through an agency (med/surg units). I am looking for others feedback on experiences with this hospital.. good or bad! Thank you :)
  6. I have said that I wanted to be nurse when I grow up since I was about 5 years old. Here I am after 2 years of acute care experience wishing I went to school for something else! lol ...I hope I grow to love it.. it sure would make like life easier. One thing I do like is that I have other options I just wish it wasn't so hard to break into a new field.
  7. When I know I have to work that night I finding myself dreading it all day and not able to truly enjoy. Plus in order to make through the night without passing out during my shift I have to be home early and take a nap before going into work... but maybe its just me??
  8. I used to work rotating day/night 12 hour shifts in southern California. When I moved back home to northern California working part time (3- 8 hour shifts per week) I thought I would be much happier. Now I find myself scrambling to find a job at a 12 hour shift hospital because I need the extra $$ and the thought of spending 5 days a week at my current job literally makes me sick !!
  9. I have been applying frequently to a very well known teaching hospital in my area. Along with the application, an assessment has to be filled out. I did my assessment over a year ago and it automatically attaches to each job i apply to. Every time I apply to a new position it seems like I get a "sorry not selected" email from them the very next morning. Do these assessments weed people out of the applicant pool automatically? I feel like my resume is not being seen by human eyes! I fit the qualification for these positions well and I am getting discouraged by this! I called HR to see if there was a way to improve my chances or have someone actually review my resume but all i got was a "sorry we get many applications, just keep trying" Just fyi during the assessment I know I answered very honestly as I felt like answering all of the questions as if I am a perfect person was unrealistic. I thought the honest approach was the correct way to go.. but now im thinking i was wrong!
  10. Hi everyone, I am applying to a float position and in the job qualifications section it says: BSN, ACLS, 2years Medsurg, 6 months tele. Does 6 months tele mean working with pts who are on telemetry monitoring, or are they looking for someone with CV floor experience? I have 1 year of medicine step-down experience and 1 year of surgical/ortho/neuro. I do float to CV occasionally but am not allowed to take patients on certain drips or post certain procedures. Thanks in advance for any replies :)
  11. I sent you a message :)
  12. Hi CherryRN22! Yes I was in the May 2011 class :) I know about Good Sam, They called me for an interview but we keep playing phone tag! Hoping I can actually talk to them on Monday though. Good luck to you too!
  13. Hey, its okay. I have a BSN graduated from SJSU in 2011 (got ASN in 2010 at EVC) precepted in peds at scvmc when I was a evergreen and precepted in oncology at kaiser santa clara for SJSU; BLS, ACLS, EKG class no other certs. I moved for new graduate program at UCLA and have been there for about a year now. Trying to get back to the bay area desperately!
  14. thanks guys! I never received a ranking e-mail. They called me to schedule the interview on July 26th. The manager said that she had a lot of applicants for about three positions and she had hoped to make a decision in the next 1-2 weeks. I would say to call HR and see whats up. They said from the beginning that those who were not chosen would get an e-mail saying so..
  15. Had an interview today for this position. Anyone else interviewing?
