Holy Abscess! Not for the faint of heart

This is quite a large abscess, kind of gross too :)

My son saw this and asked if it was real? I said it looks real to me. What do you think?

Have any of you nurses seen an abscess this bad? Worse?

Dude needs a wound vac or something... I wonder how he's doing.

Yes, this.

I can't get beyond the pain this person had to have been in before. I hope he felt better after...

I've never seen that amount of drainage from an abscess.

Oddly enough, I would also like to be the one doing the squeezing. lol. Of course, I have never experienced the smell that some of you have mentioned! :eek:

Wow, that guy must have been in SOOOO much pain before. I told myself that if I can get through that video without being grossed out I can be a periop nurse one day. Didn't gross me out, just felt bad for the guy.

Brian, you can tell your son it looks plenty real.

I'm assuming this poor man was sedated/anesthetized. Thank goodness. You have to wonder how it could get this bad before he asked for help.

I'm guessing he'd be admitted for several days of IV abx and pain meds.

That is too funny, I asked my son the same question. How did you happen to come across that video? He said could not remember how he came across it? He was just looking at youtube videos and came across it as a related video? kids these days :) Maybe he is future nurse material maybe :)
