  1. he sounds like a control freak!
  2. idk about all of this but i think i should get tested for ADD! i have all these symptoms and more! i find myself calling objects by the wrong name. once i asked my fiance "did you put a spoon in here?" referring to a coke can with a straw in it. i meant to say straw, but spoon came out!
  3. Okay good, i'm still a new nurse, and despite what i've learned, i have found myself counseling my pt's while sitting on the side of their bed. I just wondered if this was common practice. :)
  4. wow. you sound exactly like me. word finding issues are my biggest problem. i don't know where to turn, or how to get help- but i am a nurse, and i darn good one :)
  5. My nursing instructor told me once to never ever sit on a patients bed. I work at a LTC facility and i see some nurses sitting on the side of the bed with alert and oriented patients when they are counseling them or trying to cheer them up. What do you think about this practice? please keep in mind that this is not a hospital setting. thanks :)
  6. Once, a muslim patient i had wanted to be turned east so they could pray 5 times a day.
  7. Thanks for the replies! I didn't want to judge my co-worker for this, and now that i see it is fairly common to look up records! :) i will choose not to, because i want all my patients to be innocent angels in my eyes :icon_roll i can't imagine if they had broken the law! hahaha
  8. Yes i know its public and all, but isn't that a big conflict of interest? or should i look as it like i have a right to know? what do you think about it? :) thanks!
  9. A co-worker mentioned she did this and was telling me about some previous arrests of our patients. Is this illegal? It seems very unethical. what should i do?
  10. I am going to do an LPN to RN program in about a year, but i'm worried. Ya see, i live with my fiance in an apartment, and i am the main bread winner. i work PRN and make about $2000 a month to pay for our expenses (which is about $1000 a month). Fiance works his butt off but only brings home a $250 pay check every 2 weeks (he goes to school full time. and has a horrible job, but at least its a job.) Anyway, thats my situation- here is my question: Can i work part time and go to school for this? Do you think i will be able to make enough money to pay for our monthly bill of $900-1000?? have you done it? I'm afraid of it all and i need to know if someone has pulled through. This program is only 18 months, but at the same time.... its 18 entire months!!! I know my employer will help me as much as they can, my hourly pay is about 17.50. Can i do it? share your stories! Thank you :heartbeat:heartbeat:heartbeat
  11. I poked myself with a sterile insulin syringe right before drawing up the insulin. Thank god it was a sterile needle with nothing in it- this was when i was a student. so i will never make that mistake again !!
  12. Your going to have a lot of people who do not understand how you feel tell you to "get over it", "who cares what others think"- etc. its not that easy, it sure is easy to say tho- if your not that kind of a person. Personally, i think nurses are very respected, and with that respect, comes jealousy. People are jealous of us nurses and they love to try to rain on our parade. thats my opinion, people have a hard time seeing other's views. People cannot see outside of their own little narrow-minded view. You do not have to change yourself as a person to be a nurse- not every nurse is the same. and having emotions, thats okay too. some people might even tell you that isn't okay :icon_roll This is a little off subject, but prepare to hear things like that when you ask questions. sometimes old nurses forget what its like to be new.
  13. I agree! I was just going to say this exact thing! pain is hard to eliminate once it is intense. :heartbeat
