I've spent the last 4 years working with students with severe medical issues in very low-income settings. (Many of the students I had previously live in facilities with varying degrees of parent custody.) Every year I would get 1-2 notes wishing me a Happy Holiday season and one very thankful and generous family giving staff a heartfelt gift.
This year I'm in a pretty high socio-economic demographic, and holiday stuff is already rolling in!
Today I got a thermus and some treats from a student who I've never interacted with. I thought there was a little treat-tin in the bag - turns out it was a Amazon gift card!
Anyone every get anything super cool/interesting during the holidays?
I never expect anything (although I just received a hug from one of my life skills/behavioral students who rarely makes eye contact with me :)-- so nurse for the win!!)
I am at the high school..I'm viewed as the keeper of the excused absence and not much more.
Nothing of monetary value so far but I did get a gift from Heaven today and maybe tomorrow...it's cold (for South Texas) and rainy which equals NO RECESS!! Praise the Lord!
We're starting to get really cold here & I'm hoping that will mean everyone will have gloves on for recess. We got a GaGa ball pit & it's taking kids' knuckles out left & right. SO many scrapes & other injuries! My secretary now calls it "the pit of death." :)

We had a tether ball pole installed this year. Our new "Grim Reaper." But they keep going back for more and the teachers don't seem to notice anything out of the ordinary; what a surprise.

Yes!!! It's definitely an early Christmas present!!
Rarely get anything beyond a " Merry Christmas". We give more to our kids than they give to us and the wealthier community members give us money to buy gifts for our needier kids. I'm cool with that. My population needs the help.

We used to have a stone lined pit, we now have a mulch lined after our move. TYL.

I got a really cute cup and some home baked cookies yesterday that we SO GOOD.
But the entire bag was covered in glitter, which is now all over my office...so I'm not sure if the family actually likes me lol
