I'm a nursing student in Colorado and I was wondering if anyone has any book reccomendations, both fiction and non-fiction for me to read on my little time off :). I'd appreciate any input! Thanks!!!:D

This summer I have read, Morganville Vampires Series, Vampire Academy Series, Stephanie Plum series with all the in between books. and a book called Fallen. All pleasure reading. I liked them all. They a few years ago would not have been my type of books, but I listened to some friends and gave them a try and really enjoyed them. Especially the Stephanie Plum series.

I just read Wintergirls by Laurie Halse Anderson. It was particularly interesting after my Psych rotation.

It's totally light, but I really enjoyed The Forest of Hands and Teeth by Carrie Ryan. There's a sequel, but I think it's better as a standalone story. Douglas County has both of those if you're in the area.

I am starting NS in the fall and have been spending the summer reading medical mysteries. They are great and after you've had A&P and micro, things really click! Try Michael Palmer, Robin Cook and Tess Gerritson.

I really like the "unded and unwed" series by Mary Janice Davidson, they were a lot of fun!!:)

"Betsy Taylor turns 30, gets laid off, is killed by an SUV and wakes up dead all in the same week. The vampire community is convinced she's their prophesied Queen. But she's not having any of it--she's got shoes to buy! And now the undead world is being turned upside-down by a Bela Lugosi throwback and her subjects expect her to take care of it! Why didn't she read the handbook? But her would-be consort, Eric Sinclair, is (annoyingly) ever-present. If only he wasn't so tall, dark, gorgeous...and undead".

A Million Little Pieces. Its a very well-written and believable book... even if the author was exposed of it being fiction.

Specializes in student; help!.

Anything by Sherwin Nuland is wonderful, as is Atul Gawande. Both are fantastic medical writers.

I honestly can't remember what else I'm reading right now, but I'll go look.

"How to Survive & Maybe Even Love Nursing School: A Guide for Students by Students, by Kelli S. Dunham, it has lots of reaaaaaaaaallly good advice.

I read 'Stiff' about the lives of human cadavers. It was a very interesting read and at times really funny.

"The Help", it's a quick, at times funny and really heartfelt read!

I read another book yesterday called "if I stay" very sad and tragic but a good ending. It's semi medical related. LOL but only because it's about someone in a coma that is in a in between state, and she is debating on whether she wants to live or let go. She just lost her family in a car accident.

Anyway all of the books I listed are just for leisure reading.
