Hi everybody,

this is my first time posting here.. i love this website btw.. well.. today we just had our final and i just failed my fundamentals.. i was down 5 pts and pass was 74%.. our last exam which was muscleoskeletal killed me.. (only like 6 ppls pass) i was doing fine in the beginning of the semester.. sigh.. any advise for me.. i am so depress now.. dunno wat can i do or where can i go.. i am think of going to other college but i will need to wait .. right??!.. :uhoh21::uhoh21:

i tried so hard.. and i am seriously thinking if i should change major..

I start nursing school in January so I can't offer you a whole lot of insight on your situation. At our school I believe that you are aloud to repeat one failed nursing course before being kicked out of the program. I would find someone at your school and sit down and talk about your options and concerns before giving up. Keep your head up everything will work out for the best. Good Luck

i've been there. i failed nursing 101 last fall and i was devastated. i felt depressed for a few months after and wondered if nursing was really for me. i was SO close to passing. at my school you need a 77 to pass and i was a few points below that. but i passed clinical and all the skills tests.

so anyway, i reapplied because i know this profession is for me. i LOVED everything about it, no matter how nervous i got or how overwhelmed i felt every single day. i got accepted again and now i'm starting over in september. it sucks having to redo all the skills test offs and things i got so nervous over, but i'm willing to do it.

if you feel like it's for you then reapply. go for it! i wasn't sure i'd get back in but i did and i'm really excited. now i feel like it's a blessing i failed the first time....i didn't feel like i learned enough or that i was competent to move on.

My school also says you may repeat a course once if you fail. If you fail the same course twice, you're out. I'd look into more options as well before you think about having to switch schools.

If you are able to repeat - do it! Don't give up, some people struggle and you will have to re-dedicate yourself and improve your study habits. I have friends in the program who have failed a semester and then gone back to finish. You can do this! Just don't get discouraged. Edison said that many of life's failures were people are people who didn't realize how close to success they were to success when they gave up.

I think I would make an appointment to speak with my advisor if I were in your position. He or she may be best able to advise you as to whether you should continue or if another direction may be best for you. If you did very well in your other courses, he or she may strongly advise you to reapply.

I would apply at a different school. You really do not want to fail out at a nursing college. Hmmm...girl, I feel your pain. My friend failed out of three nursing colleges and she is one of the best nurse practitioners in georgia today. You can do it!

Do you people realize this post thread is 2.5 years old?

I just discovered that! ha ha ha

haha I did not notice at all.. wonder how OP made out..

I failed fundamentals too my first semester. I know how devastating it is. That Christmas I didn't even put up a tree or anything. I was just to depressed over failing. However, I did change schools. I decided that school wasn't for me. So I applied to another school and got in. I am now getting ready to start my 4th semester of nursing school, and graduate in June of 2010. I know there is hope, so don't give up!!! You can do this. Just wait a year then reapply to another school or go back to the school where you were going. Good Luck!
