Hello Pain my old friend........

.....I've come to talk with you again.......

I'm having a really tough week with both acute and chronic pain. Had to miss work last weekend due to my right knee going out (Like I literally could not bear weight) but got that straightened out with a steroid shot into the joint. Now it's the right hip. There's pain and an annoying numbness from hip to knee. It actually feels like my hip/spine may be misalligned. I have been taken financially by Chiropractors so I am leary of them and I am currently trying to stay off opiodes, but I might have to give in. I have an appointment with my GP today to see what can be done. I have an ortho referral but no appointment yet. I need to get this straightened out as I am going to France in December which is a long delayed trip originally planned for 2020 as part of the man cub's high school graduation and I can't imagine sitting on a plane for 15 hours like this. As always when I have acute pain the old chronic pain will rear it's ugly head. Like many Chronic pain sufferers you would be hard pressed to think I was in pain as I go to work, distract myself with my phone and watching television. The only objective sign is a mildly elevated BP. I have orchids to transplant and my dogs need attention but the Malinios still attempts to jump on me and she is 65 pounds of pure muscle.

Well.....;.Thank you for listening to my little pity party....I just needed to vent.

I'm sorry for your pain my friend.  I fractured my femur last year coming off a horse and had hardware removal this year due to pain.  I also have chronic back pain made worse by some complications with the fracture.  Recently asked my DNP for 5 - 10 hydrocodone and she is no longer able to give these to me, but I now have to go to the pain clinic.  This is such a problem for me - a 3 hour appointment in the middle of the day when I am supposed to be working.  Those 5 norco would likely last me 6 months as I rarely take them and only at night.  This is getting ridiculous!  Take care and I hope your trip goes well.

Last time I went to France, though I didn't have pain, I had an awful time with restless legs.  VERY uncomfortable!!  On the trip back, I upgraded to first class, so I could recline and remove my shoes and be comfy.  It made ALL the difference!  What a nice trip back, compared with the trip over!

I hope for decreased pain for you, Hppy.

Hppy, I am sorry you are enduring this pain. Heat and topical analgesics, plus rolling and stretching take the edge off for my chronic hamstring pain. I can't get a good answer for what is causing it, and I am tired of being treated like I am seeking narcotics.

I also got my bike refitted and that helped somewhat.

I almost didn't upgrade my pacemaker as recommended because I endured a year of pain after the first one. But I had a different EP, was prescribed 5 mg oxycodone, and only took them twice. What a difference!

I had pain issues also that was not managed correctly and I turned to opiates would lead me into addiction and a suspended license. I wish I had a good alternative for you. Maybe check out fb groups on chronic pain, Fibromyalgia, and there's one called Spoonies....they give good advice on managing pain. Just be careful with those addicting meds, which I'm sure you know. Hope you feel better soon!

I have taken Opiodes off and on for the last 15 years. Never had a problem with addiction, never missused and made the decion on my own to stop them. Ibuprophen is a no go for me due to gastro issues - I have a pain specialist I see regularly, get massage and use a variety of topical analgesic. Just there are times when nothing works well. Thanks for the suggestions though.

I am sorry you are in so much pain.  You are not able to work and need to apply for social security disability. That will open your treatment options.  When it comes to pain.. you gotta do what you gotta do.  There is no ceiling for morphine. Get what you need for relief.  My father took 240 mg of oxycontin /day.  Best wishes.

Sorry to read your situation, while I am fortunate to not have chronic pain issues myself, I understand that constant pain must be one of the most exhausting conditions that people face. I hope that you are able to get some relief and have a wonderful trip!

I've had 6 falls from Nov.21 to July 22.  Finally diagnosed with Polyneuropathy along with Cervical Stenosis + Radiculopathy.  4th round of Physical Therapy s starting end August with manual traction to Leg been extremely helpful- progressed from rolling walker to no device,  so seek out PT eval!  Break in antiembolism stockings for that France trip.

I want to thank you all for the advice and kind thoughts I am feeling somewhat better and hope to feel even better after today's 1 hour CBD massage. While I would love to quit working I am not financially ready to retire.I am almost there and when I reach the magic number to be able to live off the interest in my savings is when I pull that trigger. We all know you can't feed a cat on Social Security and I am not reassured by the reality of Medicare.
