Has anyone been in trouble at work over what they posted in allnurses.com

Published

I am curious if anyone has ever gotten in trouble at work about something they have posted here. I have not gotten into any trouble. Of course, I don't use my real name so I think that helps.:lol2: Thanks.

In a word: yes. Not me, but it has happened.

Not me but I've heard it has happened.

I start my first job soon, so obviously it hasn't happened to me yet. This is a big fear of mine though.

No, but I know people it has happened to. Lesson: you are never anonymous on the internet, and even if you have a private profile- people will "report" you. Be wary what you post, even with a false identity.

a colleague of mine left his allnurses.com account up on one of the work computers . . . nice to know what he really thinks about all of us!

Ha! I'm still trying to get someone at work to take an interest in AN! So far, I've only encountered one other South African member, but she doesn't live here anymore....

Seriously though, this is an anonymous forum, and although members may seem recognizable, accusing anyone of crossing some line is just not provable. I suppose if the member in question gave out too much info about a specific patient there might be circumstantial evidence, but without actual places and names, I don't see any disciplinary standing up.....

Me either..and I am careful to change irrelevant details when I post examples, so you can get your point across and hide identifying information.

Facebook, is the huge problem where I work and no matter how many meetings they have on this, people still don't listen...and the company has sent out what amounted to a final warning that they are going to start terminating employees because people are not listening.

I've thought about changing my allnurses gender from female to male or my age from 26 to 56 to throw off anyone trying to figure out my true identity but decided against it for various reasons.

I keep a secret identity online :-)
