Hardest class so far...

Published

What has been your hardest class so far? I haven't started my program yet, and was just looking for insight from those of you who have.

Thanks!

Specializes in ICCU - cardiac.

In nursing school, definitely Med/Surg. We have 24 weeks of it and it goes in depth into all the systems and diseases. You have to know signs/symptoms, labs, patho and interventions. The questions are all situations and you have to put all the information together, use your critical thinking and pick the 'best' answer. Cardiac was tough with all the meds.

Prerequisites: micro and chemistry

In the program: Anything taught by a nurse practitioner. Especially if they are also your clinical instructor.

Soooooo true! :)

My clinical instructor is an oncology NP and we are on the oncology unit for clinicals! :uhoh3:

It's been a challenging but rewarding semester. She keeps us on our toes and is always thinking 3 steps ahead of us!

My hardest pre-req was Micro for sure!

As for nursing, the hardest course so far was Maternity. Although I absolutely loved clinicals and loved the professor I had, it was TOUGH. My school splits Maternity & Peds in 1 semester, so I finished Maternity in 7 weeks, which mean an exam every other week! Really tough, but I made it. Not looking forward to Med-Surg 1 next semester!

Specializes in NICU Level III.

assessment was very time consuming.

I'm in my first year, and Pharmacology has kicked my butt. All I do is study study study. But I've heard from fellows students that this was my easiest semester!

Patho!!! Hands down!!!

Specializes in med/surg, ER.
:lol2: Hardest? In NS they are all the hardest! For me, Pharmacology was a tough time. 48 Chapters/exam...kicked my what I sit on, but I made it through and so will you:yeah:

Thank you all so much for your info. I guess we're all nervous going into it, but somehow we make it through!!!

Specializes in Acute Mental Health.

For me, the Beast is known as CHA2 or Complex Health Alterations 2. I was on the fence right up until the final exam. It was the worst for me!

The hardest class I have taking in the program is Med-Surg II, I lost 5 classmates that semester(the most we lost in one semester), MSIII isn't that bad in my program because it is strictly emergency care. Good Luck

Specializes in Postpartum/Nursery about to enter NICU I.

As far s pre-reqs it was Micro. In the nursing program it was my med-sug II course, Complex Concepts of Adult Health. I just barely squeaked by in that course.

i am lpn so not sure about RN but PHARM is a *****!
