Hi there! I am a psycho/stressed/overstimulated/tired nursing student!
RNhopeful that was so sweet of you! You do need time for yourself, it just doesn't matter how much time i give myself i always seem overwhelmed. My brain is on nursing overload LOl.. but it helps to take 1 full day to yourself a week with NO nursing AT ALL! Get your feet done, something relaxing away from the work. Just like anything else! Good tip

New LVN and already TIRED of it!!!
Good topic. NEVER lose hope! The everyday people have NO CLUE what it is to do nursing school... LPN/LVN or RN and beyond. This is the hardest thing I have ever done other than give 2 natural births within 1 3/4 years of each other and I am so proud of all the peole whjo have taken the time to do this. This career is one of the hardest to do during and after school is over. Just know no matter what anyone says, you are THE ****!!! LOL.. be good and take care... who cares what people say, do your job to the best of your ability and within your scope and go hom. When they physically pay your bills, then you can worry LOL... G'nite

Many nurses on depression or anxiety meds?
I am in between with the discussion and the answers. I have NEVER taken medication, but feel i need to. I am trying my hardest not to have any b/c i dont want to be classified. A lot of people do not understand about depression, bipolar disorder or any mental instability. I do believe alot of it is inherited through genes, however, it may not show up until later. That is my situation. It is on my family here and there, but some are from drug use. I have never used drugs, but between my 2 young children and nursing school i am ripping my hair out. I am more stressed, more anxious, and more restless than EVER! So it really just depends on life and i agree a lot of us come from broken or disturbed homes. I am in nursing b/c it has been my passion since 7 years ago when I lost my first child. ANYONE GOT MEDS?? LOL...

Intramuscular injections- drawing back
the only injection that you HAD to drawn back on that is not required any longer is the Sub Q. The ONE injection you must aspirate is the IM. I never heard this and I just started injections 2 weeks ago. I am a newbie lol.. and a huge hello to everyone as well!

*Weird* Patient Allergies

med error?
lol turkey LOL.. that one was funny.... it is true. Not a major deal, but avoid them! could have been worse
-
med error?
both responses are correct. it is YOUR license on the line since you GAVE the med. There are 3 rules I follow being a new student that i have learned are most important to avoid med errors, DO NOT GIVE OUT MEDS YOU DONT TAKE OUT, Do not document for anyone and check 3 times and check your 5 rights ALWAYS! She cannot and will not cover for you when asked WHY you gave that medication. Always remember, the things you do have to stand up in a court of law and a lawyer will eat you to pieces saying, SHE TOLD ME TO GIVE IT! Do not feel bad, use it as a learning curve and never do it again. It may be a standard order, but you have no clue what she gave! Good job for recognizing it was wrong though, some just dont care! You have EVERY right to say i am not comfortable doing that, you give the med, and she can not be upset with you! They are teaching you BAD habits! Good luck and congrats on the new career! Need help with Pharm Theory
i do have a drug book, however, it does not have everything i need to know in it. FOR EXAMPLE it says when giving DIgoxin there are no lab values which is WRONG!!!! you MUST check the Dig. level to make sure the patient is not in toxicity level. SO with that being said, i am asking others to see what they say about my 8 medications. It also doesnt tell you all of the increases and decreses of each med when on so many at the same time. Therefore, leaving me NO choice but to go outside. Thanks again:uhoh3:

Need help with Pharm Theory
Hey fellow nursing students! Congrats to all of you let me start by saying that much! I am in my first semester in LPN and struggling with Pharm. Theory. I have 8 medications that I need to know ALL about. Does anyone has any suggestions for how I can easily remember info about meds? Here are the 8 meds i have, and maybe can someone give me som info about these meds such as Labs that are checked prior to giving these meds, most important side affects and patient teachings. Aldomet Digoxin Warfarin Hydrodiuril Tagamet Demerol NPH - I know this one Doxycycline I am doing a med box on Thursday night. I have to explain the lab values to check before i administer these meds and all about them when she asks me. I HAVE TO PASS!!! You all know how important Pharm is!!! I got a 97% on my math but this is different lol... THANK YOU!!!! PLEASE HELP!

Now I think I made a mistake...
Things will get better for you! Your outlook may show in your interview so you need to leave the baggage you carry with you at the door. Interviews are a dime a dozen as are jobs. Someone said you will not land your dream job right away, and that is TRUE! I am not sure many nurses care for ER nursing, however, they do it for experience. I am an LPN student and will be working ANYWHERE just to get experience so I can go back to working for a health insurance company behind a desk! I love L&D, however, a few hospitals where i live do not hire LPN's on their floor. SO, that leaves me to eaither go elsewhere until a position opens are deal with it! Good luck with all you do, also look at how you interview. Maybe some of your answers can be re-worded and make them sound better! CALL, follow up after the interview if you really want the position. ALWAYS worked for me nursing or not! God Bless LPN2b Delgado
