And thank you all for the laughs, info and advice.
The secretary put in the announcements that yesterday started nurse's week. Two teacher said "Happy nurse's week" .... *crickets*....
It sucks to feel unappreciated. But what do I do? Whine that a 3 course meal has been brought in every day for teacher week? Point out that the secretaries received bouquets of flowers on administrative professional day? Mention that the principal bought the head custodian a $50 GC for christmas? Or, should I just sit in my office and quietly do my work? sigh.
I got the same thing the teachers got with no specific recognition. Eh- whatever! At least they thought to include me. I got a hibiscus plant (let's see how long it will take me to kill this thing- I can save people, plants, not so much). They bought us lunch yesterday, and tomorrow we get cookies!!
I'm definitely a bit miffed.
The kids giving me the cards was awesome. I hung them on my wall. This was done in front of the SW I share a suite with as well as our secretary. Me and SW chipped in and got a huge bouquet of flowers for her for AA Day.
They are both looking at these cards every day...where are MY flowers?
AYFKM?
Hmph.
I know that as a nurse, most days go by that we feel unappreciated anyway. But as a school nurse, it feels like I am at the most unappreciated job EVER. I don't count on anything, but there are 1600 kids in this school---close to 100 teachers. This year is the first year this campus has had 2 nurses ( no WAY I would've stayed if they hadn't hired a second one).
ONE teacher, the lead teacher bought me a cute gift as a thank you.
I just want someone to say THANK YOU. What we do is not easy. Most days I feel like the hair in my head looks like I stuck my finger in a light socket!
Is that so selfish of me?!
