Ok. Never posted before but I couldn't resist when I saw this thread. I'm not even in nursing school yet (which is why I haven't posted) and this happened at a dr. office not in a hospital. My husband got hurt at work trying to turn a very large wrench. He put his side again it and pushed until he "felt something crack" (yes it was a rib and he did get the bolt loose). He had a lot of pain and had a hard time catching his breath. I told him he had to go to the dr. and even called his father (they work together) and told him that he was in charge of getting my hubby to the dr. On the form for the dr. where it asked "Why did you come in today?" He wrote "Because my wife made me."

esophagus
jellybean 1 is right. I guessed the same. Two other nurses and the doc could not figure it out.

I said it out loud . . . and got esophagus.
I read a true story about a boy with autism whose mom was a bit slow . . . . . she told the doctor she had a "hecter-ectomy".

Was helping the triage nurse one day and this patient came in carrying a Jigsaw (small electric saw usually for cutting wood) which just happened to have his finger smashed into it. The triage nurse says, "What brought you into the ED today?" The patient actually had a great attitude about the whole thing and stated, "Well Ma'am I just thought you might need this jigsaw". I was cracking up. The slip ended up saying, "Finger caught in saw".
BTW patient was fine ended up losing finger nail and maintenance had to come with their toolbox so we could get the finger loose.
