Grumpy

Published

OK please send me some encouraging words to get me through the next 2 weeks! I am grumpy and tired and just feel like whining or laying my head on my desk. I don't want field day or moving up day or summer birthday celebration day I just want it to be summer vacation!!! The adults in and outside of the building are driving me more nuts than the kids at this point and I just need parole!

And I just got a new 504 dropped on my desk.....

Speaking for the vast majority of nurses that do NOT get an entire summer off, I am having trouble arousing sympathy in this case.

You get to work from home and in your pajamas if you want.

You have a good thing going, why pee in the School Nurses Cheerios just because they get the summer off?

And if you follow the forum at all, many of them have to pick up summer jobs because the trade off for summer off is no paycheck (yes, I know some have their salary spread over 12 months, but a significant percentage don't).

Hence why I posted this in the School Nurse's Forum not the General Nursing Forum.

It's adults who think our jobs are so cushy and so simple that add to the grumpiness the most! I chose this job for the daytime, weekday hours and holidays and summers off. With it comes some downsides including a serious decrease in pay. We all make our choices.

I really try with the whole if you have nothing nice to say thing ... but I have to this time:

You clearly have not been here, done this.

Sorry, I couldn't help it!!! :roflmao:

I hear ya - i have only seen 15 kids today instead of my usual 50-60 as they are all doing fun things in class and don't want to miss by malingering - but I had a student out cold yesterday not rousing with deep sternal rub that i'm still running around crazy with today. TGIF -but more importanly - thank God there's only 3 days left. I need them all gone.

Exactly and thanks! That's why I need you all!

What an odd comment, posting this on the "School Nurse's" board. They have my utmost sympathy because I could never do what they do for 9+ months a year. Nope nope nope...

A friend of mine, who works in a hospital and loves it, sometimes subs for me. She was prepared for it to be easy. She can out of the first day wide eyed and amazed. She couldn't believe how busy I was and hard it was to keep up!

Different strokes for different folks. I work 50+ hour weeks so I can get my summer, during which I do put up some non-nursing work to help pay some bills.

And it's graduation tonight for my school, which I love, so I'm smiling :).

Well, the flip side is we never get OT, shift bonus etc...it is all about the career track you choose.

I never picked up OT, too exhausted. If one works 180 days/year, would there not be lots of time to make some big bucks?
