Members are discussing the accreditation and acceptance of BSN and MSN degrees from GCU in different states, particularly focusing on the requirement of a preceptorship for BSN programs. There are concerns about certain states not accepting GCU BSN degrees, while others share experiences with the capstone course and offer tips for scholarly activities. Additionally, there is mention of GCU transitioning back to a non-profit status and the impact of this change on students.
Howdy all, I bit the bullet and after much research, I decided on Grand Canyon! Wow, I did not expect BSN schools to be like used car salesmen--hounding me by emails and phone calls. Rather impressed on how Grand Canyon sort of left me alone, but at the same time kept in touch.
Commence my first class Sept 30th, excited, yet very nervous, as I'm not a big fan of school, LOL! I did extremely well on my Associate degree, graduated back in 2009 from Northern Virginia Community College. We shall see.
Would love to hear from past and present Grand Canyon RN to BSN students.
Hello everyone...new in town! I was wondering if there is anyone starting ethics...I don't know about you but it gets lonely sound this classes. I don't seem to get friendly with anyone.
In many classes, you are sort of on your own, but I guess many online classes/programs are like that! I have a few online friends from the program. We help each other out with stuff
I recommend you start a GCU RN to BSN Facebook page..ask the prof if you can post it, and possibly others will join. Has been a great deal of help/amusement for me
CLC group submissions are due tomorrow, still no movement in the color forum.... Not even a acknowledgement that there is a project, individual assignments, or a due date..... Now what?
Just got a note from the instructor, she said she is aware and will grade each person differently. So.... She wants me and the other person that has posted to make a plan B.
The crappy thing is I could have done this project in a half a day, much less time than I have spent organizing and posting all this crap. We used my topic, I have all my research, and I have all my references (which I shared so the group didn't have to research). I could have been done and sipping fruity drinks at the pool by now, if I only had a pool and fruity drinks.
I really wonder if anyone in the whole program gets crappy grades! or even fails??
I think it is because their work is forcing them to get their BSN for Magnet cert. They hand in garbage in the forum and in the CLC. You can spot them a mile away. All of their DQs never have a reference are lucky if they are 3 sentences long, never more than a medium paragraph. Most of them know that one person will pull their weight and the rest of the team if need be. If you were in my group I would see that the thing was done perfect as I did not want to get dinged any points. The only class I lost points in a CLC was the one that kwmom and I did with crazy woman. I think the teacher only marked us down because of the tension in the color forum!
You read the bio and they say the reason for schooling is personal growth. Maybe that's code fire being forced into a program
I have one chickie in my current class and have had her for a few classes so I know her story. She is did not come to the US until her late teens. So, English is not her first language and when you read her participation posts she cannot put a sentence together! Well, she obviously has a ghost writer now (or a really nice hubby!!) because you read her DQ answers and clearly they are not her work. Her DQs the first class I had with her were as bad as her participation posts are and I highly doubt that she was able to improve her writing skills that much!!
I cannot understand how the instructor does not see this and will even comment on her DQ answers and say "great job." What is even more crazy is that this is the same crazy, demanding instructor that is requiring us to participate an extra day and cite everything.
Ugh....
Thank you great idea
I am starting to wonder the same
I know what you mean I took off this week and wow I do not miss GCU I m so fed up still 6 classes left I don't know if I can do it.. CLC depresses me

The success to CLC is taking charge!! I know it sounds crazy! But MOST (not all) just want someone to step up! And be active in the group forum! I state right off the bat..I know everyone is busy, but sooner we get organized, the faster we can start..and no hounding from me! And keep ALL communications in the group forum---so the prof can monitor!! As well I started put in the GCU tutorial on how to do a Powerpoint--as many don't know--they want to cram each slide with info--which is not the purpose of PP!! You can do this!!!

Well now that stinks for you and your participating clc member....you have to come up with more work! Hopefully it will go together quicker for you now. Should be interesting to see how the non participates react...
I am going in to Intro to Research for my next class in a couple weeks. Is this a extremely heavy loaded class? I am wondering this as I have a trip (for work, not pleasure) coming up and will not have as much time for one of the weeks while in that class! Anyone have any insight? Thank you!

I Normally don't read 99% of the DQ responses, as they tend to say the same stuff...I have better ways to spend my time. But for fun, I read a few this past week, and was surprised to see a few word for word right from the article...and I mean the whole response word for word, not a single word of their own, a simple copy/paste. If anyone ever sees my DQs, it is pretty obvious my own work, as I really dumb them down, lol I guess what surprises me more than anything, is that these students realize they can get away with simply copying/pasting. Oh well, just play the game, and worry about yourself.....I never have to worry about getting caught for plagiarism, or not doing my share of the work on the CLC projects, and that's a nice thing. I'm glad none of my CLC projects were as bad as many of yours, but on the bright side in 1 that was a pain, got a new online friend out of it, and we still laugh about that slacker. Still waiting on week 4 Capstone marks.....Paper is put together and ready to hand in...would be a bit more exciting, but I still have 2 more "anything" classes to go!! Actually I have enjoyed the Capstone class...more work...but if you find a topic your interested in, can be a a lot more enjoyable. First 2 weeks are busy, but after that, not so bad.
