Members are discussing the accreditation and acceptance of BSN and MSN degrees from GCU in different states, particularly focusing on the requirement of a preceptorship for BSN programs. There are concerns about certain states not accepting GCU BSN degrees, while others share experiences with the capstone course and offer tips for scholarly activities. Additionally, there is mention of GCU transitioning back to a non-profit status and the impact of this change on students.
Howdy all, I bit the bullet and after much research, I decided on Grand Canyon! Wow, I did not expect BSN schools to be like used car salesmen--hounding me by emails and phone calls. Rather impressed on how Grand Canyon sort of left me alone, but at the same time kept in touch.
Commence my first class Sept 30th, excited, yet very nervous, as I'm not a big fan of school, LOL! I did extremely well on my Associate degree, graduated back in 2009 from Northern Virginia Community College. We shall see.
Would love to hear from past and present Grand Canyon RN to BSN students.
I really wonder if anyone in the whole program gets crappy grades! or even fails??
Yes, they do and they complain online for failing or getting "B" or "C" grades.

Really? People do get "B"'s or "C"'s? I find that fascinating because although I am busy and stressed, I do not feel the required work for any of the classes is that hard. It is time consuming and required thought and at times a lot of research. I don't get all 1000 points like PrisimRN, but I am usually in the 960-970 range. I would like to audit their work just to see what it is like.
I am going in to Intro to Research for my next class in a couple weeks. Is this a extremely heavy loaded class? I am wondering this as I have a trip (for work, not pleasure) coming up and will not have as much time for one of the weeks while in that class! Anyone have any insight? Thank you!
Well I don't know what you think is "heavy loaded" but I am finishing up and feel that it wasn't that big of a deal. I spent the first weekend searching for research articles about my topic and came up with 12 really easy. Since I have found somewhere around 7 more so I am set for the capstone.
The papers come with outlines as to what should be included so just follow them and make the paper flow and realistic. My instructor is kind of a stickler about APA but if you have done good up to this point you shouldn't have a problem.
Take charge in the CLC and get it done early. TIP: Steer the group top select your topic for the Power Point presentation and much of your work will be completed saving time on researching some other topic. Plus you could also cut and paste from your completed papers into the speaker notes in the power point.
Hope this helps.

I wonder the same thing too! My co-worker who was in my community health class ended up with a B for a final grade when her computer crashed and she lost all parts of her community teaching assignment. She was able to redo everything but the teaching plan. Luckily she had an A going before that happened.
So I have statistics starting Monday and I just looked into the classroom. This instructor seems like she is going to be a stickler for the DQ and substantive post rules. It should be interesting. I checked out some of the assignments and it looks like a foreign language to me. I HATE MATH! Do I have any chance of getting an A, or even passing this class??? I am scared!

Just to let anyone in my same boat that has to take an elective or 2 the Risk Management and Health Care Regulations class has 2 CLC assignments. I seen that and was like "um no thank you" out I went. Not really enjoying my options though:(

Yep ouch!! I was told almost any 300/400 level class....Not sure if one can go lower! My advisor was not much help as I asked about a math class...and she more or less said go look!
Flames I was given a list of like 6 courses all 5 week courses that I am "allowed" to take and there all ðŸ˜in other words not good, boring, massive.
Dear diploma,
Did you lose my address? Are you lost?

My give a hoot button is lost in this CLC. I pulled teeth to even get an agreement to turn in by the deadline posted per instructor. Have one that was MIA for over a week from the group. No one regularly participates. Have a 'I've done all this and more' who comes in to complain, but does is not a productive member to the group.
(Miss "I did competitive debate and public speaking and taught under privileged high school students the art of debate, who at the mere age of 20 was told should become a teacher, but didn't listen, who also did research for years for a university, who took the long winding road through law school, environmental science, and wound up as an RN, have worked ICU, postpartum and labor/delivery and is a legal nurse consultantâ€) - yes that is all one person! Who looks less than 30 in her profile pic and has not contributed in a positive manner to the group in the least.....just complains.
I finally had a mini-melt down and told them
1 - This was a group project and everyone should be participating in the decision making process
2 - I welcome any ideas, suggestions or if someone would like to take guidance, please feel free
3- We all have lives that we are balancing with school
4 - I am dealing with my own health issue that was diagnosed the first week of class, complicated by trying to get medical records over to Australia from the US, dealing with the Australian health system as an American ex-pat with American insurance. But have not said anything as review #3.
Amazing how I woke up this morning (Australian morning, y'alls evening) and everyone but Miss I've done it all is being responsive and contributing to getting this done. Think they realized it was not going to be handed to them.
back to my regularly scheduled nose to the computer screen.
