Howdy all, I bit the bullet and after much research, I decided on Grand Canyon! Wow, I did not expect BSN schools to be like used car salesmen--hounding me by emails and phone calls. Rather impressed on how Grand Canyon sort of left me alone, but at the same time kept in touch.
Commence my first class Sept 30th, excited, yet very nervous, as I'm not a big fan of school, LOL! I did extremely well on my Associate degree, graduated back in 2009 from Northern Virginia Community College. We shall see.
Would love to hear from past and present Grand Canyon RN to BSN students.
So I have statistics starting Monday and I just looked into the classroom. This instructor seems like she is going to be a stickler for the DQ and substantive post rules. It should be interesting. I checked out some of the assignments and it looks like a foreign language to me. I HATE MATH! Do I have any chance of getting an A, or even passing this class??? I am scared!
Math is not my favorite either. I thought for sure every week I was going to bomb. Not sure how I did it other than I concentrated on learning what I needed to learn for that week and getting the assignment completed. I also used Thinkstorm to go over my papers each week to ensure I was doing them correctly.

I don't know if anyone wants to hear my opinion but Stats was my easiest class. DQ were dry and awful. I had all weekly work completed on Tuesdays and the last week I had finished like Friday or Saturday before the week started.
It's been how long?
18 days, 21 hours and 25 minutes.
Are you SERIOUS Prism?!?!?! That is crazy!!!! Like your done.....GCU needs to hurry up and print that baby so you can move on and display your hard work!
I KNOW. They should put a tracking number on those things like Amazon does so I can see where the hell it is! Or a GPS in the envelope? There must be an app for that?
It's just torture, I tell you. Cruel.

Do you have plans for this thing? :)
Oh, and it comes with an official transcript on the outside of the envelope. Just an FYI
Thank you!! I think I am just making excuses and I just need to stop and just do the next class!! The classes haven't been difficult so far, just a little time consuming! I'll just do it anyway! Still haven't received my signed orders to be able to go on the trip anyway! I really dislike doing papers, but am learning! Thanks again for your response!
I am actually excited for Stats class. I did stats while going to school for my ASN, but I needed another class I guess.

Kyra, math is my downfall, has been since 3rd grade. I watched the videos suggested on youtube (Khan made no sense), use the questions provided in the book they are similar. I then completed all my work as best as I could. I then signed into Thinking Storm (icon is on the first page after you sign into GCU, just scroll down a bit). This is a live online tutor session. Some of the tutors use the white board and some just use the text box. These people got me through stats, the answers that I got out of those sessions would be correct when those out of the GCU tutors would be wrong. I know that because I did both, but always trusted Thinking Storm and went with the answers I got out of those sessions. Did not lose any points in that class due to their help in figuring out the right answers. You can do it! I found those first two weeks drug by but then your in week 3 and thinking I'm half way through and before you know it your sitting in week 5. Good luck!
Prism if you have not got it yet I will stop eyeballing the postman for a couple more weeks

I will second this, heck winterwhite told me about this when I started stats. I didn't bother with the GCU tutors even though it states to start with them first. I went straight to thinking storm. I used them to correct the problems with my homework and ask questions so that I understood it even better.
All I did was do the assignments to the best of my ability and then had thinking storm check the answers. It is free so why not. It was cumbersome sometimes because communicating effectively about Stats in a text box isn't fun.
Winterwhite hated the KhanAcademy videos but I really liked them. I had no problems understanding the concepts but with some of them I had to watch them twice. I also wrote out all the formulas and posted them at my desk for quick review. Definitions of each major term is also nice to post to reference quickly.
Best thing to do is not stress, it can be done.
