Hi everyone! Is anyone else in the process of applying to Grady Memorial’s RN residency program that’s set to start this August?
I may be impatient (?!) but I applied a little over a week ago and have yet to hear back.
Has anyone heard anything back? Or for anyone who went through the process for Winter 2020, how long did it take you to hear back?

I know for sure it is a year. However, online says its 24 months. Not sure how the second year goes. I'm pretty sure its more relaxed than the first, though.

My offer was for the burn intensive care unit. We spoke about my start date and temporary license and anything you would want to ask her. She stated that I would start in Aug either August 15th or August 31st. She also stated that if I obtained my tempoprary license after I graduate in May then there is a possibility I would start orientation sooner in June instead.

It really seems like the hiring process moves sloooowwwwww.
EDIT: has any of your guys' application statuses changed? Mine still says "interviewing".
Hi! I will be in the MICU as well!
Hello to all. I'm super late in the conversation. CONGRATS to every one!
I was offered my dream job at Grady's MICU! Of course, I accepted.
To answer the question on a previous post, I think the official letters will come in May or June. I said that based on the Summer 2019 residency thread.
Also, I will be moving to GA from MS. So let me know of some good apartments if you know of any. Specifically ones that are pet friendly.
I'm so excited about this opportunity. I just can't stop thinking about it! ?

Oh WOW!, that's awesome about the temp license.

CONGRATS! That is awesome! I interviewed for the MICU too but unfortunately don't think I'll be receiving an offer, as everyone's already heard back and secured their spots! Please think of me in the future hahahahaha. I'm going to simply reapply this Winter, fingers crossed!
Just now, LPChriste said:OH! To add to that, did your guys' application status change on the portal? I know I asked before but don't think anyone answered back on that. Mine still says "Interviewing," and I wasn't sure if it'll change if they decide to/not to extend an offer.
I received an offer, which I accepted via email, and my status still says "interviewing".

Things to take into consideration: cardiac telemetry would be great for basics (since you're aiming for CVICU), and once you're in on that position, you're an internal candidate for Grady... thus higher preference for consideration for future positions that open up. Could reapply for the Winter RN residency cohort for CVICU and by then not only have experience on cardiac floor, you'll have about 6 months experience AND be an internal candidate. I'd say the odds would be in your favor. Worse comes to worst you don't get to transfer in 6 months? Then go ahead and apply to other hospitals for their ICUs and say PEACE!! LOL.
I still haven't been offered nada. I wonder if they'd even reach out to offer me Med/Surg. I also wonder if I'll be in my grave by the time they email me back LOL.
They actually chose for me to interview for CVICU and although it wasn't what I wanted, I was grateful to have been interview for any of the specialties.
As far as I know the residency is also a year. And even if it weren't, normally they want you to stay on a unit for a year before transferring. I believe Grady also has a contract of like two years or so, so leaving the facility wouldn't be an option either. Had I gotten an ICU offer I most likely wouldn't have wanted to leave anyway. But that pay and how hard you work for it just doesn't add up for someone like me. Were I a young, bright eyed and bushy tailed person...perhaps.
I hope you get what you asked for and wish you the best!
