Grady RN Residency - Summer 2020

Published

Hi everyone! Is anyone else in the process of applying to Grady Memorial’s RN residency program that’s set to start this August?

I may be impatient (?!) but I applied a little over a week ago and have yet to hear back.

Has anyone heard anything back? Or for anyone who went through the process for Winter 2020, how long did it take you to hear back?

Thanks for posting this info...it’s helping make my decision. For clarity, so it’s the original base pay offer + 5.45 = new pay rate after 1 year?

Yes!

Anybody hear anything new?

Nope. Nothing new yet. Still waiting on the official offer letter.

Nope. Haven't even gotten a response to my email accepting the offer from the initial offer email I got on Friday.

Anyone got their official offer letter yet?

Big nope. I'm thinking about giving the recruiter a call tomorrow afternoon or next Tuesday (which will be the 2 week mark for me).

The lead finally acknowledged my email the other day and said that official letters will be sent by the end of this week...so today at some point

I’m jealous you guys are hearing back! I emailed the recruiter requesting feedback on my interview & application process to get a better idea on what I can work on to make it into the ICU during the next hiring cohort.

After hearing nothing (despite two emails) I finally messaged the manager on LinkedIn directly to see if they could share some feedback, and simply received a message back to “check with the recruiter.”

Not gonna lie.... super frustrating process. I am at a total loss as to what it is that failed to land me a spot. Anywhere, for that matter! Grrrrrrrrr

I got that response after 3 emails, 2 phone calls (both with no response) and finally contacting the other recruiter who sent the link for the interview. I think it's been difficult to coordinate all the residency positions they may be managing.

I just wanted confirmation they received my acceptance before officially declining all other offers I had.

Well as someone on the inside one the ICU floors I will tell you that the ICU manager is hard to talk to In person as well. I asked my recruiter is there a way to be evaluated by the ICU manager as an extern to help solidify my residency and she basically said that would be a “bad idea” to even communicate with her. Since when is it ever a bad idea to be evaluated? Soooooo I empathize with you. Not sure if this is just COVID madness or everyday madness. Good luck on the next cohort though! Interview for step down ICU too next if you didn’t because uase they are the same manager and a lot of people on step down are being transferred to ICU.

Ooooh OK. That’s understandable. Thank you. Then I’ll just hold off on contacting her again for a bit.

Oh no!! That’s concerning ? I also applied for ICU step down as well. I’m just at a loss! I have 5 years’ experience in Med/Surg, ER, and ICU... Externship, completed ACLS already, and actively involved in multiple nursing organizations. I’m wondering if they just didn’t like the way I interviewed, or if it was a personality clash, or what ☹️ I felt like a strong candidate going in and thought the interview went really well! Kinda feel like a terrible candidate now though LOL
