  1. I honestly don't know what to think about all of this. I know when I I was a tech I had a hard time because in the ICU it was already labor intensive but add covid and the n95 with surgical on top.....it got rough. The constant manual turning, baths, pushing and shoving has me breathless by the time I was done and wanting to rip the infernal things off. But, people are trying to find excuses to not wear it period. I don't pay them any mind because in the end I know it is not about me.
  2. Well you aren't training them to be full-time ICU nurses and be able to deal with bents or CRRT machines but you can train them to at least be able to titrate ICU drips and other basics so that they would provide adequate help when needed. I'm not trying to completely take away nurses from other units to be in ICU
  3. I agree with the idea of cross training across specialties. It allows you to utilize skills you probably don't use on your home unit and decrease the need to rely so heavily on travel nurses. I'm not trying to take assignments away from travel nurses but my ICU was overwhelmed and relied so heavily travel nurses....still does, to be honest. The one food thing they did was bring in nurses from other units to be "assists" to the ICU nurses. They shared responsibilities and worked together to care for multiple patients. One of the nurses is even planning on joining our unit.
  4. And here I thought you were gonna say the bad old days when the exam had to be taken on paper and you had to wait a couple of months for the results LOL. My mom always mentioned that to me when I agonized over waiting till the next morning to see if my license posted or doing the PearsonVue trick as soon as I got home.
  5. I took mine on June 4th. I sat there and I swear the letters seemed to just dance around the screen laughing at me. NOTHING made sense even though the wording of the questions were simple. I simply couldn't comprehend a THING. I had been using UWorld for the previous weeks leading up to the exam and I had no problems comprehending anything, despite being considered harder than NCLEX itself. I walked out in shock but had to hold myself together for the sake of my kids who drove me with me for over 3 hours to get to the testing center. I was making backup plans and already talked myself into retesting. I would be losing my residency spot and possibly the opportunity to bridge over in the fall. Everything seemed to just float away from me. I was actually shocked when I saw my license posted. I don't know what kind of grading strategy the board uses to grade but I highly doubt it is as simple as it being "adaptive".
  6. I hope that whatever you choose you will be happy. Congratulations.
  7. They actually chose for me to interview for CVICU and although it wasn't what I wanted, I was grateful to have been interview for any of the specialties. As far as I know the residency is also a year. And even if it weren't, normally they want you to stay on a unit for a year before transferring. I believe Grady also has a contract of like two years or so, so leaving the facility wouldn't be an option either. Had I gotten an ICU offer I most likely wouldn't have wanted to leave anyway. But that pay and how hard you work for it just doesn't add up for someone like me. Were I a young, bright eyed and bushy tailed person...perhaps. I hope you get what you asked for and wish you the best!
  8. So I was just offered a med surg spot. Cardiac telemetry floor. I'm not sure how I feel about it though. It is still a Grady experience but...I just don't know.
  9. Someone said the start pay is 24.86 after done with residency in a year it does up 8 dollars for specialty residents.
  10. I believe it was today yes. Keep your spirits up! You got this!?
  11. Someone in my class got an offer to the ED. So happy for him
  12. That's what it actually was. Placed on an alternate list, not actual rejection. My mind just saw it as rejection because I didn't see congratulations LOL
  13. Welp. Got my rejection letter this afternoon. ? I wish you guys all of the best and hope you get the job if your dreams ❤️
