Dear all, as you all know i have been accepted and today we had the follow up with financial aid, because i did not have my green card on hands yet FAFSA did not approve me for any loans, therefore i would have no way to start my nursing school, this is so disappointing, well, since my social security is brand new, there was not a way for me to get a private loan, i need to come up with 6.400dollars for the first semester wich i was not able to get approved, i will be able to get my green card soon but the school cant wait, and they said i have to get a loan for my first semester ASAP or i will not be able to start.

It is frustrating that i went trough all i went and now will have to come to a dead stop, and God knows when i will be able to start my classes, over 6 months of hard study and preparation in order to get accepted, but just because a piece of plastic i wont be able to aquire my stafford loan or grants.

I am sick to my stomach, wifey and i just got on our feet, and we do not have not even 1/4 of that cash.

I just dont know what to do anymore, have attempted everything, and the crazzy feeling inside that makes me want to burst and yell... it is just too much, it is hard ew life, wife, dealling with imigration, working, and now this mad bomb is dropped!!!

i wish there was a way i could get a loan for my first semester, but with no credit how can i????

does anyone knows what can i do at this point and time? i can't barely think straight...

any tips any advice .. any place i could get a loan...?

Wow, sorry to hear that. There's not much you can do in your situation since your SSN is new. But, what about family and relatives? Can someone help you with the loan situation? Get a loan from a family member and repay them as soon as you can get your loan. That's the only thing I could come up with. Well, not to sound mean... but didn't you check up on the financial aid situation before applying? I'm sure you were aware of the cost of the program. If all doesnt work out, maybe it's best to decline this semester and reapply next semester. Others are waiting to get in, and if there's a road block in your case... someone might be able to take your spot. I know it sounds harsh but I really think things happen for a reason. If you were able to get in this semester... why wouldnt you be able to the next time around? I dont know... just my thoughts.

That is disappointing. This sounds crazy, but try contacting your local news stations and see if someone will pick it up as a story. If someone airs it, you'll get donations I'm sure.

Stay positive. I've seen you around this board for a while now and you are always so positive. You worked hard and you deserve it! Miracles do happen. Good luck, I'll say a prayer for you.

Sorry to hear about that. Family is probably your option for this semester. Whether it be a loan or living with family and work next several weeks fulltime to make the cash to pay the 1st semester.

:uhoh3:

I'm not sure which country you are from but my cousin married a girl that was from the Dominican Republic and the country actually paid for her to go to school here in the US. Is that an option with the country you are from? Also there are privat loans--- they have NOTHING to do with the FAFSA, have you tried that?

I really hate it for you, I had to do the same thing back in 2002. Not for the same reasons, I just knew that I couldn't handle it all.

It may be too late to get into the May class but you should definitely try for the next one. I would contact the Orlando Hispanic Chamber of Commerce (or another organization). It doesn't hurt to make a few phone calls to see if someone knows someone that can help you.

of course i was aware of my situation but, wan not aware that fafsa would not kick in for the fist semester, if i new that, i would have taken a different route i am not thaaaat dumb lol!

I am applying at prosper.com, and will see what happends, will also try the chamber of commerce and catholic charities, i could pay it back in 6 months! but since we just bought my wife a car and paid for her books and stuff, we have no substantial ammount of cash wich we can make, but not in 1 month...

my family is in Brazil, and they make less than i make here, so that is out of the question, and my mother in law is trying to have a baby, so her savings is gone to the funds to try her pregnancy...

i will even try talking to the dean see if i can pay them monthly until i get approved by fafsa..

i just dont want miss out on my chance since i went all the way!

well, i will tell you what...

somehow someway i will find this damn money and stick it, !!! watch and see!

i am f**** pis**ed off now, and wont give up at this point and time, i dont care if i have to pay 25 % apr, just so i get it... there might be lenders out there that helps us!!!

Goodluck and I hope you find a way! When do you start classes? Is there a way to get a job to help pay for that? Have you tried scholarships? Goodluck again!
