Given a do over, which (feasible) career would you pursue?

Published

The question is in the title. And pertains to actual work.

I would have traveled to other cultures and done some DWB type thing but I still would have picked nursing. I probably would have pursued NP or WOCN (might still do that). I would have liked to have added some ER or critical care type experience.

I've been surrounded by friends and family who do work they enjoy, I have a lot of builders in my circle who love the work but may loathe the paperwork amd bureaucracy (I'd think there was something wrong with us if we didn't, apologies to lawyers ? ).

And also if I may, why did you choose nursing?

Good question! Growing up I wanted to be a vet but there were no programs for veterinary school anywhere near me and the ones out of state were not only too expensive for me to seriously consider but they were also so competitive that I doubt if i would been accepted anyway. If I had a do-over I would have liked to at least tried to get in.

If I had to start over at 18, I would've gone into nursing right away, become a travel nurse, and lived out of a suitcase for a few years before settling in a place I liked. Otherwise I would've found a way to make a computer science major work, or become a long-haul truck driver.

Nursing but I wouldn't have put off getting my RN so long & gotten my NP.

I worked at a movie theater for my first job. If I could do that and make more than minimum wage, I would. Laid back job, laid back coworkers, free movies whenever I wanted to go, free movie posters at the staff meetings... yep. That was the life!

Justice of the Supreme Judicial Court of the United States. I maintain that it's feasible.

Violinist and violin teacher. I went into nursing because after conservatory training i allowed my parents to convince me that no one makes a living in the arts, blah blah blah. I hated nursing ever since my first day job-shadowing.

tomorrow is my last shift as a nurse! :)

Large animal vet. But I don't like the long hours at night I've spent waiting for the on-call vet on the farm when one of the animals is sick, so I can't imagine doing that for a living.

Besides that, I'm working on becoming a manufacturer of utility bags to sell.

I would have become a librarian, and been obsolete in ten years.
