Lord help me, I have just checked on the ratemyprofessors.com and my next teacher sounds like the anti-christ. I know from experience that many of those comments are left by angry students who dont want to do the work. Its just that you can usually tell because there will be 1 or 2 redeeming posts and on this rating there were none. Not a single so-so you might make it if you study hard comment. It was about 10 posts of you might need medication or commit suicide.
Im going to see what happens the first day and then mabye try to get into a different class in the next couple weeks.

RMP still works? seriously? I haven't had any reason to check it for a long time. You said, you were just there -- if the comments left are outdated (let's say -- a year or over a year ago), then, maybe you shouldn't take them seriously. Maybe your prof. has simmered down from being the anti-Christ? That's funny by the way.

Anne, PM me who it is. You might have my professor. If so, she's not as bad as she was rated, trust me.

I've actually never had a bad experience with ratemyprofessor.com. All teachers they say are good have been great(with the exception of 1-I have her now and she is horrible) and all the bad ones are there have a horrible reputation at the school.
Good luck though. Ultimately, no matter how horrible the teacher is, you control your grade. Honestly, many students(as is they went down in groups, not alone) have gone to the dean about our anti-christ teachers and some of them have changed as a result.
I know happy, its all up to me. I have already decided that Im going to buckle down and make this work somehow. Even though I have done well so far at my school, I dont feel prepared for higher level college work somtimes. I took the required writing course and got an A but I still dont feel comfortable with my writing skills.

I am just finishing up a class in pharmacology from a professor who had horrible ratings on rateyourprofessors.com . And yes, for my class she was probably the worst instructor that I've had in my 20 years of college (2 degrees).
But for the most part, I just tried to do the best I could to get through it.
Good luck to you!
Thanks everyone. I think it will be okay. I have never had a Professor that was so hard I couldnt get an A, despite the bad ratings. Yes, some or all of the comments can be correct but it doesnt necessarily have to translate into a bad grade.

Oh nooooo. I'll cross my fingers for you.
I just researched my A&P2 lab prof and he seems to be a few pegs below "antichrist", but not many....

I've had terrible profs for A&P but I have finally made it through and I know that you can make it through your class as well even if you do have a dreadful prof

Hopefully the class will be okay for you. I never really had back luck with the rate your prof. website either. Most of the time the comments seem to be right on point with how the teacher is. It's ashame the one on myspace doesn't work anymore...I think they got rid of it, but it was really good.
Hopefully your school will give you options...if you find the class to be awful after a week or so, maybe you can transfer to another section with another teacher? I try to do my best and not get frustrated with a bad teacher, but if they are really horrible I get upset because I start thinking that we pay a lot of money for these courses, and we deserve to have a good professor. But in the end I guess we all just gotta suck it up and get through it.
Good luck!!
Lol :)
