Our administrator came out with a new form today that all CNA's are to pass out to their residents at the beginning of each shift. It reads:

Your servers today will be:

nurse______________

CNA________________

Anyone want to share an opinion on this? I was told I was being to sensitive to this, so I figured I would let all your honest and humble opinions set me straight :rotfl:

This is unbelievable....I would refuse to pass out these forms......I guess administration has nothing better to do than think up these useless and insulting ideas.

Last time I heard those words said to me was when the hostess at a local restaurant seated me...how degrading!! I would be ticked! Maybe they should have:

Your servers today will be:

doctor_____________

nurse_____________

CNA______________

Then see how fast that gets thrown out! I would find out who's idea that was a give them a piece of my mind.:angryfire

Now this is absolutely assinine and I would have let this administrator, who obviously needs more education in administration, know it wholeheartedly :angryfire I love gwenith's idea and would have thrown those forms right in the trash in front of her/him.

Replace "servers" with "staff" (or simply the date as was mentioned before) and it's a great idea. I can only remember to write my name on the marker boards about half of the time. As long as it says "servers" though, make the most of it. I'd get a tip jar up at the nurses station. Maybe on the bottom of the "servers" sheet you could list what 10,15,20% tips would be like they do at restaurants to make it easy for the customers to know how much to put in the tip jar?

Hey, could I get your administrator's email address HAHAHA!

I would totally have a bonfire with that stack of cards and would invite the administrator over to roast wienies on that open fire!!

They have a lot of nerve! I cannot believe this is for real. A server? What exactly are we serving now? Unbelievable. Boy, I would love to have a chat with that administrator:angryfire

My response to this would be a very southernized drawn out b---s---! Where do you write the admin's name?

this is why I do not want to go into Admin without some experience under my belt.

Wow. At least you know your place in the food chain so to speak. This type of crap strikes a nerve with nurses who spend 1+ years in college working towards a degree which is used to keep people alive; specifically it is an attack on one's pride. So yeah, if my education, my hard work, my time is going to be valued as much as a job which requires absolutely no education (other than the ability to read) I'd be a tad bit annoyed too. While you might very well work under very dense admin, the implications of server=health care worker can't be denied. And before I get flamed for belittling servers; I worked my way thru college in a restaurant, and am considering a return as a second job because I enjoy it so much.

I just couldn't last in an environment like this. I'd be unemployed within 5 seconds after the admin realizes I just told them to get bent.

OK, I feel better now. Many other nurses were just as upset and made comments to the administrator about not being employed by Denny's - so yes there is good nursing support - all the way up to nsg managment and I think by tommorrow it will turn into a full blown riot if not changed. I just can't believe the nerve of some people to even think that way. My suggestion was to change the wording to "Your professional staff this shift will include nurse____ and CNA ________.

How can we expect any member of the public to take us seriously if our own bosses don't. :angryfire . Then they get their nose out of joint when they don't think they have our respect!:angryfire

P.S. This whole topic is not meant to be degrading to any servers, but I spent a lot of money and a alot of time to be a PROFESSIONAL nurse (and the CNA's also deserve more respect than this to). We are not talking about your dinner here, we are talking about the person who could save your life.

I think this is an absolute NO-NO! (Let me first state the I am not "offended" by it because I "served" many tables when I was younger & there is nothing wrong with that) However, some of these people come in & already act like they are at the Hilton & should be waited on hand & foot...WHY encourage it, nurses are busy enough??? If they are going to pass out cards like this, they should staff twice as many nurses since you will be catering to the patient/family's EVERY need! I am still a student, but unfortunately, I have witnessed this very behavior with my own family members while they have have been hospitalized:rolleyes: ...I was sooo embarrassed that I wanted to hide under the nearest table!

That's hilarious. I was a waitress for years before I was a nurse, so I have often jokingly referred to myself as a waitress with a degree. I don't think of it as demeaning, really. Nurses really do wait on people in much the same way, but college gave us more responsibility.:roll Seriously, it's just plain silly and shows an administration that is floundering, IMO.

Please tell me you're joking.
