Poll: What area would you like to work in when you graduate? - page 2

I'm sure I'll decide once I start clinicals, but I'm thinking either OR or oncology. Or possibly becoming a lactation nurse or a school nurse. One of the perks of nursing: SO many choices! :spin:... Read More

I've always wanted to work in L&D. But I know that may change once I work through my other clinical rotations.

When I graduate I want to work in L & D/Postpartum or the NICU.

I plan on working in L&D/postpartum. I intend on sitting for the IBCLC exam (lactation consultant) the summer after graduation. I've been a breastfeeding counselor for five years so I already have a lot invested in the decision.
Same here! I plan to sit the IBCLC board exam summer 2005. I also hope to take Jan Riordan's Lactation class next year, I'm trying to get my school to accept it as my nursing elective class. I've also taken a Childbirth Educator course, although I decided to pursue nursing school before I ever taught any classes.
I'll probably graduate from my BSN program 2006 if I stay on the track I have going right now. I plan on going to grad school ASAP for CNM-MSN. I really don't think I'll go into anything else, but maybe I'd be interested in OR.

Ok - thats 1 maybe for neuro and 0 for burns. I guess neither are very "top of the pole" but they are both well worthwhile.

What I am saying is - don't focus on the most popular like SICU or L&D look at some of the out- of - the - limelight specialties they too have an awful lot to offer.

Well, I'll come out of lurking to say that I am interested in burn nursing!

    Critical Care - Cardiac

Cardiology is what brought me to nursing. I kept my options open, and I thought my mind would be swayed as I went through the clinical rotations. Nope.... it only strengthened my desire to work with cardiac patients... (and really took care of the "what-ifs" about the other possibilities!!!)

I start my internship in Cardiac ICU in 2 months and 6 days! Ya think I'm excited?? :chuckle

Well baby nursery, NICU, postpartum, L&D, or pediatrics. Also, I'm interested in home health care doing well baby visits.

Several more clinical rotations to do but my mind is set on Burn Unit. Hope to volunteer some time this summer and shadow a nurse in the trauma/burn unit

Well, I am SO new that I am not familiar with the area/specialty names-but I want to work with transplant patients and their families-especially kidney. (If anyone could throw me areas that cover these, I would really appreciate it! Thanks!)

I guess I'm just boring!! LOL...I'm an LPN on a Med/Surg unit and I just love it. I plan on staying in Med/Surg for the next couple of years. Maybe then SCU or ICU, but I really like Med/Surg. I also Love working Nights. I guess I'm a strange breed.
