I'm considering a job change. One thing I have to take into consideration is the health insurance. For a BC/BS plan where I can go to any doctor or hospital I choose without a referral or PCP, $10 copay for OV's, no deductible, and RX coverage. Family coverage is $125.00/pay. I think this is reasonable my husband thinks its riduculously expensive. I now pay $70/pay for coverage that limits me to my small community hospital and doctors with a $25 copay. What do you pay for similar coverage? Thanks for your input! :bowingpur

I pay $151.02 per pay which is bi-weekly. This is for the gold membership which means no deductible and lower co-pays. There are also silver and bronze levels depending on how much you are willing to spend on the deductible. I took the highest level of insurance because my husbands work reimburses us $160 every month for not having insurance through them.

I live in the UK and we have the NHS so our healthcare is 'free' at the point of delivery BUT we pay ridiculously high tax from our wages.

You are very lucky to get private health care.

Your insurance is wonderful! I pay $155 per pay for family. we only have a $400 deductible to meet and then everything is paid 90/10, w/ a $2K max out of pocket per year.

I am not working right now (school) . . but I paid $450 every other paycheck.

Now I'm paying COBRA $1200 a month.

I think your health insurance sound pretty darn good.

I pay more than that per pay period for MY OWN insurance. It sounds very reasonable to pay that much for your whole family.

Agree, and work on the managed care side, that's a pretty good rate for family!

Much of it is to do with the employer group itself and it's 'buying power' like anything else; have a sis in Florida who pays over 400 for her family! And from what I've heard, when they had needs, coverage was not as robust as what I have for less than half the cost.

no contribution, no co-payment, i am covered 100% with my family. But I have to stay within the Rx network. I use HIP

I pay $195 biweekly for family coverage. $25copay for PCP, specialist $35, $600 deductible, $1200 family deductible, 80/20 for the rest. If that's not bad enough each family member has a $100 deductible for medications. I'm not even sure if it's worth it to have since almost all of it comes OOP anyways since we very rarely meet our deductible. I guess it'll be there for those what if situations. I should just be happy I am one of the ones who can afford to have it.

My husband is self-employed. We paid about $1,100 a month for PPO insurance with a co-pay and then switched to PPO with a high deductible ($2,400) to pay only $690 a month. This is for a family of five.

I recently got a part-time position with a school district and am getting insurance through them. It is $600 a month for a Blue Cross HMO for $15 co-pay. Much better coverage and same doctors and hospital as I had before. I have had spinal surgery and found out that my surgeon is currently not taking BC PPO but will take BC HMO. Weird, huh? So, I signed up with a doc that refers to him often. This is California.

My husband is self employed and my rate just went up $150 per month! So now my monthly cost is $1500. This is only for a family of 3. I can't wait to get through school and get a job!

Bi-weekly deduction is $176.31 (CIGNA) for family of 4. No deductibles, no referrals necessary, $25 for Primary Care or Specialist, $100 ER visit.

They are the best insurance we've ever had -- they pay the provider quickly, we've never had a problem. We had Aetna before and they would not pay until we got collection notices! We are grateful to finally get a good carrier.
